We already know Itstimupnorth is a big fan of the late great Richie Havens;but does Alwaysright mime to Morrissey songs in the bedroom mirror?
Is there truth in the rumour that BRB has a secret stash of Jimmy Shand 78's? Does Grumpy Git sneak in at he back at Kylie concerts?
So, if you were castaway on Deadman's Island in the Medway Estuary what ten music tracks would you choose to take with you?
(It's harder than you think to narrow it down to ten)
Here are mine to kick off, let's hear yours!

Wild wild life Talking Heads
Love minus zero Bob Dylan
Birdhouse in your soul They might be giants
Fall at your feet Crowded House
Livin' thing ELO
I think it's going to rain today Norah Jones
Somewhere in my heart Aztec Camera
Still crazy after all these years Paul Simon
Perfect skin Lloyd Cole
Someone to watch over me Alice Zawadski with the Barrie Rowe Big Band

Difficult because I have no one particular music taste, also my taste will change with my mood, however, being a teenager to an era of rock & punk the first I noted from your list was ELO.

How Soon Is Now? by The Smiths
There Is a Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths
Wonderful Woman by The Smiths
Big Mouth Strikes Again by The Smiths
You Should Have Been Nice To Me by Morrissey
Tomorrow by Morrissey
The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I get by Morrissey
For Lovers by Peter Doherty (First dance at my wedding)
505 by The Arctic Monkeys
Conversation Getting Old by Remma

To be fair I could have chosen any Morrissey/The Smiths tracks!!

I don't know about Kylie but here are ten from hundreds of possible.

Come softly ------ Fleetwoods.
Blue Velvet ------ Bobby Vinton.
Donna ------ Ritchie Valens.
Duke of Earl ------ Gene Chandler.
Sh boom ------ The Crew Cuts.
When ------ The Kalin twins.
Walking back to happiness ------ Helen Shapiro.
Nessun Dorma ------ Deanna Durbin.
Over the rainbow ------ Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.
Why do fools fall in love ----- Frankie Lymon and the Teanagers.

There are just so many I would have to take hundreds.

Have had to give this one a lot of consideration because I go through phases of my favourite bands and songs what I like at the time. I think these are the tracks I would have to take:

Country Song - Seether
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Mz. Hyde - Halestorm
Turbulence - Steve Aoki & Laidback Luke
Breakin' A Sweat - Skrillex feat. The Doors
House of Fun - Madness
Run Don't Walk - Hey Monday!
Hello Brooklyn - All Time Low
One Vision - Queen
Fake It - Seether

I'm guessing some of you won't know some of them but yeah that's what I would take. I would prefer more though :p

I would find it a challenge to restrict my choice to 10 musicians' lifetime work, let alone 10 tracks, but here we go :

Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who
Green Manalishi - Fleetwood Mac
Cry Me A River - Julie London
The Sea - Fotheringay
Portions for Foxes - Rilo Kiley
Crossroads - Cream (but only if it's the live version)
Heliotrope Bouquet - Scott Joplin (performed by Giovanni De Chiaro)
Innocent When You Dream - Tom Waits
The Dream Tree Sequence - Andy Roberts
Die Wiederkehr - United Jazz & Rock Ensemble

Some would undoubtedly change with mood, but I reckon at least 5 of those wouldn't.

Genesis - Entangled
Genesis - Home by the Sea part 1 & 2
Led Zeppelin - The Rover
Led Zepellin - Stairway to Heaven
Wishbone Ash - Throw Down the Sword
Yes - Starship Trouper
Yes - Yours is no Disgrace
Within Temptation - Stand My Ground
Within Temptation - Gillian
Evanescence - Everybodys Fool
Evanescence - Imaginary
Lacuna Coil - Falling Again

Us oldies get 12 tracks cos we were pre-decimal

Morrissey wouldn't feature in my top 100 !

I am of the same 'era' as yourself. My music taste is very 'catholic' ( varied ). I have a particular fondness for classical music, in particular Rachmaninov. However I greatly like Rock 'n' Roll. I enjoyed the time of The Beatles & the 'Merseybeat' sound. The Seventies gave us some great 'disco' tracks as well as Glam rock ( OK - I've got Gary Glitter's greatest hits - and even seen one of his gigs ). Some Punk stuff was alright - to satisfy any anarchial tendencies I had at the time ( probably still got them ) - but not so keen on House music. The stuff churned out these days is just rubbish.
I would struggle to compile a definitve top 10 ------- However the only time I was drunk enough to agree to do a Karaoke I am proud to say it was
The Last Waltz ( long before The Gills fans adopted the tune )

hi guys..... thanks for sending in your varied selections and comments. Rachmaninov to Seether! What a bag!

Grumps: Yep, I fondly remember most of them from my shool days many moons ago.
What about 'Blue Moon' by The Marcels?

GFC 1234: You are truly Sir a 'A Fellow of the Smithsonian Institute' I watched 'For Lovers' on Youtube today.
I liked it very much. Pete D. passed me by for some unknown reason. Maybe the bad publicity laid on him by
the Gutter Press had something to do with it.

Tim Ooop North: Funnily enough I was also considering 'Cry me a river' for my top ten. But after being blown away
by Alice Zawadski's performance at the Paralimni Ampitheatre last Saturday night, poor old
Julie London got edged out. Like you I am a Tom Waits fan and have three or four of his albums.
However, I was unable to finally pin down a stand out track for my list.

I so nearly went for Rockin' All Over the World too. I once performed at my school's summer concert playing bass guitar for the very same song! I also struggled for a Madness song so I played safe with House of Fun. Any of their major hits I would have been happy to take.

Much the same we seem to have very similar tastes in music. A lot of mine I sort of played safe with but for them same artists I could have called in so many more. Even the Pink Floyd one is not the video I was after, they had another one that had millions of youtube hits but I can no longer find it. There was some very extreme stuff as well but being drugs related I did not think was suitable for a family forum so steered clear. Could have also done Frankie goes to Hollywood. Most of my stuff is late 70's to early 80's (I think). I do like some more modern stuff but cannot to the life of me stand these manufactured boy bands. Don't like anything from these voting tv shows. The sort of modern stuff I like and names slip my mind but again loud and probably gang or drug related. Other stuff I like has to help release the mind, soul searching and get any anger and frustrations out. Don't as such do love and sentiment stuff.

Good thread by the way OTiC

Like many above me, my tastes vary dramitc change depending on my moody. Generally I prefer music in major keys, which explains why the likes of Morrisey and the Smiths do very little for me, but I do enjoy classical music in the evening to relax, Pachabel's Cannon being a personal favourite, to pick ten would be near impossible. However a few definatels would be Make Me Smile - Steve Harley and the Cockney Rebels and I Love Rock 'N Roll - Joan Jett

Peter Doherty does indeed get loads of bad press for drug abuse, but he is without doubt England's greatest poet

I have a different taste in music to a lot, I am a more of a soul and R&B person, with a touch of Reggae.

It is so hard for me to post 10 but this is what I can think of (just note I am not a fan or rock but I do have a very large music taste which ranges from pop to soul like I said).
I am one of them people who likes to hear different types of music each day and it also depends on my mood (Like brb).
This is my 10 and I am not putting it into an order, I think this is what I want to go for but there are many others I like.

It Wasn’t Me- Shaggy
Virtual Insanity- Jamiroquai
OutKast - Hey Ya
Don't Cha- The Pussycat Dolls
Feel- Robbie Williams
She Will Be Loved- Maroon 5
Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word- Blue Ft Elton John
Cry Me A River- Justin Timberlake
Beautiful- Christina Aguilera
Ignition- R Kelly

A lot of mine come between 2000-2005 when music was better than it is now, I did actually consider S Club 7 though, one or two songs were not bad but not the music I would listen to daily. A lot of these are from my Primary School years as well as I was born in 1996.
