Hi Everyone Just wondering from people who were at the game how De Ridder did. Nick from Ugly inside is ultimately saying he is limited after his pace, but then he tends to pick on certain individuals sometimes. Do people think that he needs more adjustment? Is he good enough?
he is a great impact player. he changed the game when he came on against cardiff, we actually looked like threatening when he came on, likewise he was excellent yesterday. dont know if he can do it for 90 minutes though, against preston he wasnt really in the game.
I'm in the more adjustment camp. He is good but sometimes makes wrong decisions...by January I think he will pop up on the wing a bit more.
one thing that is really promising is the amount of effort he puts in. He seemed really keen yesterday, chasing balls that he probably couldn't reach, but still tried to. his pace and skill is also an invaluable asset
He was brilliant against Cardiff - good movement and energy. He seemed to struggle to get into the game against Watford and I'm sure he isn't used to having so little time on the ball. If he gets used to this though, he will be a very good player for us.
It was his first league start on the wing so i think it is way too early to comment. When he has come on from the bench it seemed to be up front so to be critical of him by saying he is limited after one league start is unfair.
When he cuts in he was brilliant and opens up space for others to play in, unfortuantly the balls that got played through to him weren't great and when he did get put through he probably should have squared it to Guly. But to be fair he is still new to the English game, just like Guly and Waigo before they struggled at the start and then blossomed into good players. He will be very good and I have absolutely no worries about him whatsoever.
If he has the talent, and I believe he has, Adkins and the coaches will get the best out of him. De Ridder is a good loan who can make an impact on a game, and it will be reviewed in January.
You've got to understand that it takes a while for foreign players to get used to english football, just look at Nani,Anderson,Dzeko...the list goes on.
