Now I know we have him on loan for an extended period but is there a buy in clause as he is just getting better and better and we could really be doing with signing him full time. His two goals this last weekend were just sublime and what a great pass from Danny Graham too. Good to hear the Swans crowd singing don't go Danny Graham, he has done so well for us recently, well actually as long as he has been with the Swans he has done us proud so I hope he stays and becomes a permanent fixture over the next few years. What a great goal for Ben Davies too, showed a lot of strength and commitment, hopefully the first of many.
He was great against us on Saturday, and we were worrying about Michu! It looked like Begovic was in a bad position for the freekick, but non the less, great strike from De Guzman. That Ben Davis goal was a cracker too.
Jonathan De Guzman Filipino father Jamaican Mother born in Canada considered Dutch on loan from a Spanish team now in Wales Worldly is how I would describe him. Hope we sign him up.
Well he says he wants to stay, let's get it done http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2013/01/21/3688373/-
One 'Z' in 'De Guzman' NJS but I agree he's been really good for us and seems to be getting better now he's settled in. A little bit powder puff in the tackle like most of the rest of the midfield but I saw him in Tesco's recently and he's really not that big. It's funny how players always look smaller in 'real life'. I'd love to keep him.
Yes, he is powder puff in the tackle but the reality is, if he could tackle in addition to his other talents, he would either cost a lot more or not be for sale at all. He's definitely settling in and improving and, like everyone else, I think he is one we should keep.
Hi lads Im with you Knackered sign him up now also Michu and of cause our Sir Mick If we should win on wed v chelsea then win the final there will be a lot more clubs after our mick also michu sign them up for a further 3yrs each Id say .
Hmmm... got a funny feeling Laudrup may not be interested in staying longer. He tends not to stay too long anywhere but barring un unforeseen disaster he'll see out his contract. I'd love him to sign an extension but I just can't see it. This would be unfortunate because a lot of our more recent signings came because of him, even though we'd like to think that they've come for the delights of Swansea Bay! Maybe we shouldn't worry too much about the future just now and enjoy the moment.
No point worrying whether laudrup will stay or not, but I think he will look at it if he has a challenge here and whether he can work with our club. I don't think he's ever had club like ours who has the money to do things if needed and no worries financially . Truly we are in the best league in the world, and I think he knows it.
Us wanting to sign them and the players actually doing so are two different things. Michu in particular will be well aware of the interest in him and, no doubt, will wait and see what offers are on the table when the time comes. It amazes me the way that Arsene Wenger has come under attack because of the players who left Arsenal. There is no way that he wanted them to leave but he was powerless to prevent them because of the club's wages policy. It was not his fault but he was blamed nonetheless. We are in a not dissimilar situation. Arsenal won't match the top salaries and we can't, so when the big hitters come calling, we just have to do the best deal we can for our club. Unfortunately, when that time comes we will lose Michu to a club that can offer him £100k a week, always providing he is still doing the business of course. It is a sad fact of life and one of the reasons why we will never dine at the very top table. We might gate crash on occasion and spoil other club's appetites from time to time, but that's the extent of it. That said, I'm not too upset. I have a seething hatred of the obscene amounts of money being handed to players and their agents and I have no wish to see my club go down that road even if that means we will forever be a mid table club.
Many were split on JDG earlier on in the season but it just goes to show that some take longer to settle than others . There are flaws to his game but we can say that about all players, i guess you need to weigh up the pro's and the con's and see how things balance out. I think he has 6 goals this season? we are only half way through so we could argue that what he lacks in the tackle he makes up for in the goal dept. Another very astute signing by Laudrup. JDG has come out and said he would love to stay apparently, this is good news for us but there maybe a touch of the gylfi's if Laudrup is only 18 months from the end of his deal so maybe keep a close eye on this one, it could be an indicator as to what Laudrups long term thinking is, i know he doesnt like long term deals so i suspect if he was going to re-new then it wont happen for a while, Laudrup rates JDG very highly and the boy is definitly one of his! As said above this might be a crude indicator of where Laudrups long term thinking is heading , the two most recent deals/transfer speculations have both talked about 18 month contracts, Laudrups ends in 18 months! i might be reading too much into it but either way we are blessed to have Micheal Laudrup and 2yrs is better than none !!
Still, Swansea might have something very valuable which very few clubs have and that is a global appeal. If the Swansea-fever continues it's spread around the world then we might be talking about something more than just an occasional gate-crasher.
Fox Soccer Nightly Report is glowing in their praise for us. Last night especially. If we get past Chelsea - the game is being shown live everywhere around the world except here (wtf) - we are going to be a household name. If you own a Swans shirt the black market is going to be huge .... At least until Taiwan Eddie starts counterfeiting.
Well I wish he'd start because i look daft in my grandson's top (didn't realise how much you can stretch polyester)
Guys check this link. It shows just have valuable De Guzman is. http://blog.squawka.com/2013/01/21/...-the-radar-for-swansea-stat-driven-analysis/? I mean statistically speaking he is successful in the tackle 86% time which is probably contrary to popular belief. 89% pass accuracy (he does like to get it forward too, thus some of those passes are harder to pull off). More in the article. Buy him!
