From the Post. An interesting read.

Darrell Clarke has hinted that Steve Mildenhall has stated a compelling case to retain his position as Bristol Rovers' number one for the foreseeable future. He has conceded just three goals since as Rovers have gone on to win three of the following five games to offer Clarke pause for thought in his continuing transfer window search for an additional goalkeeper to compensate for a lack of cover.

    DC said:
"Steve has been absolutely excellent for me. I've said to Mildy that he will keep the shirt if he keeps performing in the way he has done. What he has shown is how important it is to keep going when you are not in the team because things can always quickly swing the other way. I said to Steve in August that I didn't see him as the future over the long-term, but things change in football and it has changed. I'll be the first one to say that Steve has been outstanding, not just in recent games but in the way he has conducted himself since August. The thing he has to do now is to handle the pressure of keeping the shirt just like any other player at this football club has to. If any of the players in my squad are not doing the business they won't be in the team and they won't be at the club for very long. Players are professionals paid by the football club. I don't care about players chucking their toys out of the pram. A player cannot be more powerful than the manager and that is the way it should be at every football club. Steve has been a good professional and gone about his business in the manner I would expect from any of my players. Any players who give me an ounce of problem would be out of the door pretty quickly because I'm not the sort to get held hostage to player-power or any of that rubbish."

The last sentence of that statement has shades of Sir Alec about it

Mildy is a model professional and deserves his chance. As long as he stays fit there's a few years in the old dog yet, so there's no reason why he can't retain the shirt for the foreseeable future.
