Clarke, who is remains under contract at the Memorial Stadium for the time being, was last week being linked to take over at Plymouth Argyle following the departure of John Sheridan. Bookies have him as 20/1 odds for that job. When asked about his future, Clarke replied: "We have had a great season and I am very happy and proud to be the manager of this football club. There haven't been any talks, but my contract is up for review on July 1st and I am sure there will be some discussions at some point between now and then. My main priority for the time being is to start putting things in place to make sure we have a squad in place that can be competitive in League Two next season."
He'd be nuts to go to Home Park, Rovers are a Bigger club than Argyle and besides they have always traditionally had a hard time of attracting decent players due to their geography, it's tough in Brizzle but add another hundred miles and its very difficult to assemble a squad that would realistically challenge for honours.
I guess we nicked JW when he was on his way down to Plymouth. We actually probably did them a favour as things turned out...
If he's offered the position and accepts it who would you want in his place. To open the debate my choice would be Nigel Clough
" Rovers are a Bigger club than Argyle" are we? I wouldn't have said so, certainly not in recent years anyway
I would be amazed if he was looking elsewhere. I'm sure we're a good fit for him. He's started a project for the future, he's had the support he needs and he has just seen the massive potential here. He's probably having a well earned rest and recharging his batteries for next season.
