DC said: âI get a bit frustrated that people are expecting us to win three or four nil at Telford. How did (leaders) Barnet get on at Telford? They drew 2-2; how did (promotion-chasing) Woking get on against Telford? They lost 3-1. It was a great win as far as I am concerned and I have to protect my players because I think it is unfair that people are expecting them to play these teams off the park every week. The club has changed and we are where we are. I want us to play better football at times, but when you are up against a packed midfield and space is at a premium you have to earn the right to win football matches first and foremost. You have to look at the bigger picture sometimes and I think the players deserve massive credit for the way they are going about their business. Itâs us against the world, thatâs how I am trying to build it down here. We donât really care what people want to write in papers or on forums, we are not interested. Weâll just keep going and weâll keep focused and that is the way it will be all season whether we are on a good run or a bad run.â http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...arke-defends/story-24309046-detail/story.html
DC is spot on TBH. I'ts nice to watch a good entertaining game but if we play **** every game but still win 1-0 every time I'll be happy.
Yep - as far as I'm concerned 3 points is all that matters. But.......if we had a decent striker we wouldn't be biting our nails down to the quicks at 1-0.....
If i'm honest, far too defensive (in manner not football lol). That's been a concern for a while for me, DC is doing a good job, but i am slightly concerned by his demeanour. UTG
I see what you mean, but I also quite like the 'siege mentality' that he's established. It's far more effective than the 'we couldn't give a toss' mentality that caused us to be relegated in the first place.
I remember Gerry Francis rag bag Rovers adopting a siege mentality 25 years ago and we didn't do too bad.
