According to the OS, he'll be out for 10-12 weeks.
Hopefully he'll be back fully fit for the start of next season.

I think you mean Caulker from Swansea, as Naughton is at Norwich and is not a CB.

Anyway, up until recently, recalls were not allowed between PL clubs, but I believe there is now the facility for this provided it is written into the original loan deal. I think I am correct in saying that a recall option was put into Caulker's loan deal with Swansea, but the option had to be taken up in January, otherwise not at all.

As for Bassong, I don't think a recall option was made.

Funnily enough, we haven't heard any member of the Stevenage management or squad talk about this, or the BBC report it without question...

  8. As I commented on the match thread earlier - they are happy to whinge about an iffy penalty but not able to comment on an opponent seriously injured as the result of the actions of one of their number.
    No class!!!

I must say from my seat in the East stand, my first impression was that Dawson had mistimed his jump and merely fallen awkwardly, but I did get a glimpse of Joe Jordan's reaction from the bench, which made me suspect a naughty challenge had taken place.

Having seen a TV recording today, I now have no doubt the Stevenage player knew exactly what he was doing. Dawson's absence is a huge blow. I know a lot have him down as their 3rd choice CB, but he reamains a big loss at this stage of the season.

It is lucky for us that Gallas is available as cover, but with our options at centre back down to Ledders (when his knee is up to it) and Kaboul, with Gallas coming back from injury and Nelsen lacking match practice, every tangle is going to be watched with trepidation from now on - because we dread Khumalo getting a game...

I have to say every pairing fills me with dread atm, and there's nothing lucky about Gallas being available, he's just as error prone in his first games after a long layoff. I'm afraid Harry's decision to take Nelsen ahead of all recall names mentioned above, will now be tested to the full.

I thought Nelsen was average at best last night. I can accept he is rusty, but he did little to inspire confidence and even this early in his time at Spurs, he is giving me the shakes.

Nelsen's lack of familiarity with those surrounding him probably didn't help SC, especially as they're not that familiar with each other.
The starting back-line was extremely wonky, too.

Perhaps he'll look better with a few more games under his belt, but I'd prefer not to see him used again in a hurry, in all honesty.

I don't know what happened with Seb, I thought he was good given a run of games, he proved it in a run a couple of seasons ago, i remember him coming on as a sub and keeping Torres quiet....Torres in a liverpool shirt that is! :) After that spell harry just didn't use him, I thought that strange, must have killed the lads confidence.

Redknapp doesn't like to rotate, Notso.
He kept Bassong out for too long last season and it did him a lot of damage, in my opinion.
He played a lot in the previous season and built up a good partnership with Dawson.

He really has had some **** luck for 2 seasons now. I thought he was brilliant for you in the 09-10 season. He is somewhat limited and I doubt if he will ever go to the next level but still he can be a very good defender in this league.

Big blow. I've said before that a top team needs people like Dawson around.

Bassong out, Nelson in did indeed look a bit funny at the time. I mean even if Bassong/Nelsen is 5th choice CB you still want your 5th choice to be someone good enough for your team. I don't hold with this "he's only back-up" argument. If he's not good enough to actually play for your team if/when necessary then he's not good enough - even for 5th choice.

I'd rather have had Bassong (who, despite his faults HAS done the business for the 1st team) as back-up than an old, rusty player who's never played for us.

Oh well. Perhaps we'll find out why we signed Khumalo!

(Only kidding - of course we'll never work out why we paid £1.5 million for a 24 year-old who's never been anywhere near the first team. His agent should get a bloody medal).

He was on the bench for Stevenage I think.

The justification for sending Bassong to Wolves was that his head was down, which seems to imply sending him to a club in freefall will cheer him up?
