Yeah just saw that on twitter myself, best decision I think. I'm sure Dudgeon will get more appearances this season, but Daws deserves his testimonial and his experience will come in handy.
Yeah. Good decision. Might restore a little faith on "loyalty" issue too. It might sound like a slightly worn out concept these days, particularly after some of our recent goings on but I think it's still important to most supporters.
Dudgeon is the future. He will be every bit as good as the other Bambinos, just needs ushering in properly. He's the only one whose position was already taken up by an experienced longstanding squad member, otherwise he would have already had first team regular status.
Good decision. I'm not his biggest fan and I prefer Dudgeon but I'm sure we all agree on the value of having Dawson in the squad, and he fully deserves his testimonial year.
Hope its not the cheap option here your not telling me steve bruce doesnt know of a younger quicker player to play in his position . The times daws got skinned last season was frightening .Got no problem with him going over to the coaching side tho
Yes, well done Steve Bruce. I could have put money on him letting Dawson go because of his age. Especially when he mentioned at the Press Conference about looking forward to working with such young talent. I guess he understands that he has had 9 Years at the Club and he wants to allow him to have his 10th and a testimonial. The only thing is... Who will his testimonial be against? Tottenham to be against his brother, Stocksbridge Park Steels to be against his other brother, or Scumthorpe as he spent quite a bit of his career there too?
He had the regular left back slot for the first half of the season. It wasn't until Pearson left and Barmby took over that Dawson got a look in I think, or did he get injured. Either way, if fit, Dudgeon should be our first choice left back, but Dawson is as good a backup as you could ask for.
I was worried he'd be sold this summer and miss his testimonial year! Well done Daws! 10 years at the same club doesn't happen too often these days
I'm glad he's got another year and will get his testimonial, but I'm hoping he's not going to be our first choice left back, hanging off an opposition player isn't an ideal tactic.
