Can't believe there hasn't been a thread on this yet. Anyway, former legends etc. coming back, looks pretty epic. https://twitter.com/AndyTestimonial Discuss potential opponents/players coming back/favourite Dawson memories here.
It's going to be really good. Not just the match but there are loads of events going on throughout the year. There'll be a golf day at some point, a gala dinner with the Wembley squad, a 'Question of Sport' style quiz night with teams from Scunny and Grimsby, games evening and a bowling night.
That's the big launch event, it's really just a night where loads of business are invited to see what's going on over the rest of the year and ideally, put some money in.
I don't remember any footballer doing a testimonial in this way before, normally it's just a game and that's it, but this way there are plenty of ways to get involved, I like it! Obvious opponents would be Sunny, Forest or Spurs (or whoever Michael is playing for at the time), maybe even Bristol City or Leeds if it's an invitational type game?
I think it might be Celtic, but I'll have more accurate knowledge by tomorrow night. I don't think that's right at all.
Several favourite Dawson memories. There are the premier league memories of course, but his debut goal which was a free kick against Southend and his brace at the Riverside in the FA Cup are also some fond memories of Daws.
Tickets for what? The actual game will be piss easy to get tickets for, the launch night thing is way over subsribed and pretty exclusive and all the other events, most of which are still a way off, will be sorted out nearer the date. I imagine it'll be easy enough to get hold of tickets for most of the events if you're interested.
Who was invited to the launch? Guessing all Premier Club members where? If so think i maybe be able to get to it.
I don't think so, it's nothing to do with the club. It was mainly local businesses and their +1s and a few 'celebrities' such as PB, NB, AP, the owners, a few players and the committee members who are organising the thing.
