Sky sports have broken that Dawson will be out for at least 2 months with a torn Achilles... Typical!

We need Gallas back as soon as possible and having some of our other options available would be nice, too.
Corluka and Huddlestone might not be ideal at centre-half, but they could probably do a job in the Europa League and we need to avoid running our better ones into the ground.

Aslong as the injuries to Corluka and Gallas aren't for 2 months or longer too, we'll be fine.

Something isn't right in the way we condition our players and maintain their fitness. Ironically, the only time this wasn't the case was when Ramos was in charge. We seem to suffer way too many injuries, or am I being paranoid?

They didn't get injured when Ramos was in charge because his main stategy seemed to be to stop them running, or trying! In other words yes fit but fit for nothing.

To be fair, I thought the likes of Hudd looked as fit as a flea then, but as far as the rest is concerned, he was El Clueless. Injuries seem a recurring theme for us, but I suppose most clubs' fans feel like that at some point during the season.

I just don´t really understand how we can have this amount of injuries after just 3 league games,we even had alot after the summer break(or does summer break mean literally that "break").

Our injury situation is always a bloody nightmare. Especially defensively over the last few years.

I'm sure last season I heard a stat that we'd had 19 different CB partnerships. This was in about November after only 4 months. No wonder we leak goals! We need gallas back fast.

This is the price we are paying for not signing a defender. We knew we were short and the same applies to the strikers. Touch wood everyone stays fit.

    Surprised it weren't more mate!

Does anyone know much longer Gallas will be out for? The physioroom website says "no return date" which is a little worrying. Same with Lennon too...

Good thing we didn't sell Bassong after all.

Shame we didn't sign Cahill, though.

yeah, it's madness mate. I'm sure it was during the Bolton game when we got destroyed 4-2 that they mentioned it. we never seem to do anything about it though. i'm sure our injuries are far worse than other clubs. we always seem to have loads of players out at the same time.

with Ledders unable to play more than about once a month, it's left usvery short. I don't feel at all confident with kaboul and bassong at the back. buy hey ho, that's the situation so we've gotta get on with it.

Now more than ever, Ledders really needs to be wrapped in cotton wool! Kaboul I have no problems with, although we're only 5 games in, he's looked a lot better than Dawson in my opinion and seems to be improving more and more since he's been back at the club. Bassong, if he can cut out the constant lapses in concentration, can also be a very good defender.

Under Ramos we won our only major trophy this century, and were superb in wins at City , over Arsenal and against Chelsea, so if we were fitter then, it definitely paid dividends. In fact, we lasted the pace better than Arsenal, scoring two late goals in the 5-1, IIRC. We scored a late goal at City despite being down to 10 men for most of the game, and scored an extra time winner v Chelsea, so maybe we were fitter.

Err Luke, Daws played all last season bar the terrible hack on England duty, he is far from a sicknote...Rio, Hargreaves etc???

As for Bassong, I think he's capable, but will make a mistake or two till, like anyone else, he gets a few games under his belt.

    Can we recall Caulker?

I don't want to see Huddlestone or Corluka at centre back in the PL.

I don't think you can recall a player that's loaned to another PL club. Didn't Man City have that problem when they had to get an emergency 'keeper in as they couldn't recall Hart a few seasons back?

Not disagreeing at all with our injury probs Luke, I think a lot of it is luck and the individual, some blokes are more sturdy than others. For any sportsman its a fine line between peak fitness and injury, and with every person different in build and ability, maybe the way forward is more individual training regimes, doesn't hinder Ledley at all does it? BAE played virtually every game till he got a knock in the last few matches, so general training can't be that bad.

You're right SF, you can't recall a player that's on a season long loan to another Premier League club.
As we decided to put Alnwick into our 25 man squad, I don't think that we could recall Khumalo and use him, either.
