The bould Dave gave a speech the other night about how British folk would have to tighten their belts and get used to more austerity, he gave this speech in a room full of people in expensive tuxedos and fancy dresses, people sitting on gold thrones and ornamental horses made of... Gold on each table <doh>

us Irish have been through the austere ways and are emerging out the other side allegedly but not even our spastic politicians would been that brazen.

They're making a reasonable attempt to get in the groove though; cutting down on extravagent costs by sharing the one poppy between them

I am not an elitist, established and vested interests are an obstacle and I'd happily clip the government's wings to make them less powerful - so they get out of my way <whistle>

Small govt = tory philosophy. The purpose of govt and the law is to protect the powerless from the powerful

Actually the Tory's traditional support came from landed and vested interests, and the classical Liberal movement was anti-Tory (small liberal government was very much a thing of the Left up until the mid 20th century) - I'm not for protecting the interests of people who are already rich, I'm for leaving the market wide open so that everyone who is capable has a shot of displacing them.

Occasionally. However, better the law should rule than tyrants should. That's why it says above the entrance to the Old Bailey "Protect the Children of the Poor - Punish the Wrongdoer."

When the right talks about freedom, they mean freedom for the strong to exploit the weak.
