Kyle Edmund of Beverley making his Davis Cup debut and opening for the Brits, first set and won first 5 games against David Goffin of Belgium the world no 16!
He's doing really well, hard to believe he's playing the world No.16... Davis Cup Final, Match 1: K.Edmund (GB) 6 6 1 D.Goffin (BEL) 3 1 2
It's a totally different match from the first hour. Edmund has lost his way - but there's still time to get his range back.
Two nil and you ****ed it up etc... Davis Cup Final, Match 1: K.Edmund (GB) 6 6 2 1 0 D.Goffin (BEL) 3 1 6 6 3
Quite some collapse, better luck next time Kyle... Davis Cup Final, Match 1: K.Edmund (GB) 6 6 2 1 0 D.Goffin (BEL) 3 1 6 6 6
Davis Cup crowds are so annoying. Some idiot disturbs the server before every point by shouting too late, after the others have gone quiet. Fabricated, ignorant, glory-hunting, face-painted pricks.
Reminds me of Murrays path in his career as they both have fitness issues at he beginning but the talent is obvious. Murray identified his weakness and did something about it and the success followed and I hope Kyle does the same as there is a top ten player potentially waiting to come out. He certainly has the skill.
Comparisons to Murray may be loading unfair expectations on the lad - Murray was clearly a prodigious talent and was already in the world's top 20 not long after his 19th birthday. Edmund's progress is steady and I wouldn't rule out a top 10 spot ultimately, but the ultra-rare likes of Murray, Djokovic, Federer and Nadal were already huge stars by the time they were the age he is now. http://www.tennis28.com/charts/Murray_rank.GIF
Another local lad doing well is Guy Smith, who came third with Bentley in the Bathurst 12 hour race in Australia over the weekend, McLaren won it... http://www.m-sport.co.uk/m-sport-ne...-conquers-the-mountain-to-climb-on-the-podium
