    Sunderland are showing interest in Udinese defender Davide Faraoni according to the player's agent.

    Gus Poyet recently made it clear that he wants Sunderland to sign another full back, despite the arrivals of Billy Jones, Patrick van Aanholt and the imminent arrival of Santiago Vergini;

    We need another full-back, the idea is one who can play right and left or with Billy (Jones) covering.
    That full back could well if Udinese right back Davide Faraoni if reports in Italy are to be believed. According to the player's agent, Sunderland, as well as West Ham and West Brom are interested in bringing him back to England after the player's spell at Watford last season. When asked if it was true that West Ham interest were interested in Faraoni, Giovanni Bia replied;

    Yes, but Sunderland and WBA are also buzzing around.
    Bia then went on to say that his client had a very positive experience in England and would be open to return, but first they will have to discuss what plans Udinese have for the player;

    In England there is more than one team that is buzzing around him and that [a return to England] may still be in his future.

    Now we have to evaluate with Udinese about what will be best for the boy.

    The experience there was amazing, he did very well and scored a few goals too.
    Faraoni, an Italy u-21 international, is a full back who can also play on the right hand side of midfield, he joined Watford on a five-yeard deal last summer from Udinese but returned to the Serie A side at the end of the season. Should Sunderland pursue their interest in the 22-year-old they will also face competition from Chievo, Torino, Palermo and Verona.

    Any watford followers around to say whether he's any good?

    He started as a right midfielder this lad and I recall he was quite rated at one point, but he just kind of disappeared.

    I recall him going to Watford and thinking it was a massive drop, then remembered that Udinese owners also owned Watford and it made more sense.

    I think he's played at every level bar full for Italy, so must have a bit about him, but I can't give mush first hand.

    Watford supporter in the office reckons he was disinterested last season but thinks he would have the skill/ability to play in a higher division than the championship
