his loan spell ended at the weekend and he has returned to Crystal Palace, while talks continue... http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/sport/2012/october/16/david_wright.aspx?
Loan signings tend to be trouble. Even when the player does well there is a vacuum at the end of the loan period so we should either sign him or wave goodbye. Having said all that I thought his play was excellent on saturday but with Jackman and Lee returning, should those guys be on the bench to accommodate a loan player? Not if you want a good team spirit.
I feel we should look at signing Wright for the rest of the season and/or permenantly. He has been outstanding in the games that I have seen and only heard good things about him from other fans. He plays the anchorman role better than anyone else at the club, Payne is the next in line but has seemed a little fragile recently.
I see this is croydon today have stated dougie freedman(palace manager) as saying the ball is in david wrights court that if he wants to comeback to the gills for another month he can, or fight for his place amongst the palace squad. Interesting to see if he has enjoyed his time at gillingham fc and wanting to become a fixture or if he's glad to be back with the eagles. For me he is a big reason we are where we are and hope he comes back to us !
David Wright has been a brillant loan signing hopefully he will stay at least another month. Bristol I disagree about loan signings being bad for a club as we have had some fantastic players who have done really well like Lee, Whipdale,Nouble , Tomlin,Kuffer, Obita and now Flanigan. Although i do agree that in some cases the youth or young pros are not given enough chances to develop( at the moment Davies and Essam)
