Mackem here. Not sure how many regular posters on this board but here goes. How did you guys rate Vaughan last season? I know he won player of the season ahead of Adam which says a lot. His transfer was relatively quiet seen as he arrived around the same time as Wickham, Brown and O'Shea and we weren't really sure where he'd fit in. We've had a poor start to the season. More in the performances rather than getting destroyed every game. Bruce made the big call to put him in to replace our Captain, Cattermole (who has struggled lately) and my goodness Vaughan looked outstanding!! Composed and could pick out a brilliant pass!! Seems like a down to earth guy as well. Also a word on Phillips. I enjoyed watching you guys last year in the prem. A real attacking threat and breath of fresh air into the league. More deserving of a place than the likes of Stoke who are disgusting to watch so It was a shame you guys went down. Then I saw you'd signed the living legend that is Kevin Phillips and immediately thought we may be seeing you again next year. The signing of the summer IMO. Might be getting on but there is hardly any other striker with the same predator instincts as him. Only Englishman to ever win the European Golden Boot too Good luck for the season anyway!

You've summed up Vaughan perfectly. My only surprise is that he wasn't given a chance sooner. Cracking player and more of a loss for us than Adam. Gutted we lost him for nowt. However, think Ollie's found a real gem with KP. Looks better every time I watch him.
