Former Blackpool midfielder David Vaughan will complete a move to Sunderland shortly. The 28-year-old left the Seasiders recently after reaching the end of his contract with the Seasiders. He was expected to undergo a medical today and sign soon. Vaughan caught the eye with some excellent displays for Ian Holloway's side during their Premier League campaign. He was named as the club's player of the year and was offered a new contract at Bloomfield Road, but opted to seek an immediate return to the top flight. The former Crewe and Real Sociedad player was widely expected to join either the Black Cats or West Bromwich Albion. Vaughan had previously said: "The last 12 months I have played more regularly for Wales. "That has been good and if I want to continue that I have to be playing as high as I can on a weekly basis."
