Blackpool midfielder David Vaughan has confirmed he will not be signing a new contract at the club and is leaving Bloomfield Road. He has turned down a final offer of a new deal from the recently-relegated Seasiders, saying he wants to stay in the Premier League. The Wales international midfielder was one of the Seasiders' most consistent performers in the top-tier and his announcement is likely to put a number of Premier League clubs on alert to sign him on a free transfer. Vaughan told Blackpool's official website: "It was a very good offer and it was a tough decision, but I just want to stay in the Premier League and test myself at the highest level. "It was unfortunate that we couldn't quite stay up last season and that was a big disappointment. "My three years at Blackpool have been great and I'd really like to thank the fans and the staff. The last couple of years have been brilliant and I leave with nothing but good memories. "If it wasn't for Blackpool I may never have played in the Premier League, so I have a lot to thank the club and the manager for. He has changed things around and I'll always look back on my time with fond memories. "It's a tough decision to move because my family are settled in the area, but hopefully things will work out well wherever we end up." The 28-year-old is thought to be a target for Sunderland and West Brom, while Scottish champions Rangers are also linked with a move. Vaughan's contract is up at the end of June and he will be free to move on then.
I would really love it if he came to rangers just cant see it tho even if he came up for a season and we sold him on good piece of buisness for both parties.
He is coming to leeds so we can abuse him. Welcome to the championship Blackpool.... you make a great sat night out so a great fixture
