After watching silva tonight I got thinking, If we didn't have the 2 cowboys in charge he would probably be playing for us. Class act!
Have to agree his left foot is unbelievable! Touch, pass, skill, bit of pace if he adds 10-15 goals a season he'll be up there with the best I think.
I hope he does, but I can't see him adapting very well to our style of play. I wish we'd stop hoofing the ball all over the pitch and instead just say "The ball can't go 5 metres over the ground unless you're in the final third and threading in a cross"
To be honest, as you may of heard me say before, i am not the biggest fan of Carroll. From what ive seen so far, i just feel he's not quite right to be our number 9. I know it's too early to judge him - but has anyone really seen anything that shouts out 'great striker'? I will give him time as he's young and will need time to settle, but tonight we just saw what a £35 mil striker should be doing. I do have faith in the lad though, and im pretty sure he'll come good
given the chance i think Aquaman could be our version of Silva Will reserve judgement on Aguero came on against a tiring defence lets see if he gets much joy at Bolton
Someone needs to teach him how to get across the front of his marker for a start. We had countless balls whipped across goal on Saturday and not once was he attacking the ball full on but hopefully the more games he gets the more this will come. In fairness to him in the second half on Saturday we didn't get anywhere near high enough up the pitch to support him. Plus I remember Crouchies first few months he couldn't buy a goal but once he got a few and got used to the teams style of play he improved massively.
Smudger, question for you... I was watching a compilation of Andy Caroll vs Man Utd for Newcastle in his first game in the premier league on youtube and I couldn't help but notice how explosive and powerful he was, was he like that every game? Because one of the most baffling things for me since he's signed is his lack of pace, which wasn't very evident in his Newcastle days, he was pretty quick when he played for you, when I watched, I thought. I don't know if its the pressure of the fee and him trying to be a player he's not in an effort to impress or if he's still carrying an injury, but he's certainly not as mobile as I thought he was in his Newcastle days, would you agree?
Wasnt exactly lightening quick, and neither was our team, but yeah he was pretty nippy for a guy his size. Watch the highlights of when we played Sunderland last year in the 5-1, he was breaking on the counter attack one time and they couldnt keep up with him. Similarly "explosive" when we played Villa I'd say.
Actually, heres the highlights, watch them anyway if you want see how to destroy Sunderland http://www.freesoccerhighlights.com...1-sunderland-motd-epl-sunday-october-31-2010/
The run is about 2 mins 30 in, very quick and skillful. Might also be interested in our thoughts on his slow start on this article from earlier today http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/75992-Andy-Carroll-in-a-goldfish-bowl
like a 2 weeks ago when someone made a thread about how you could have bought aguero instead of carrol for 3m more, pretty much all liverpool fans said carrol suited them better, and he was the better buy, proved wrong wasnt you?
