Nuge is close to putting pen to paper on a 3 year deal. Hopefully Kasper signs up next

Nugents not going to get anything better, Kasper might.

I will praise Terry Robinson if he can get Kasper to sign a new deal!

I would have given Nuge a new deal but 3 years seems 1 too many for me

Not really. Because of his wages we wouldn't have been able to get rid of Nugent until now. We would have had to loan him out like Danns

He's 3rd or 4th choice. Any ideas who might be keeping Nuge on the bench?

He's been terrific for us this season, contract was up, and he definitely deserves a new one.

Maybe in the world of the dramas we'd have just let him go and spent £20m on Johnny Foreigner, but doesn't look like we're going that route.

He deserves another chance in the EPL, that's for sure. Our whole squad deserves a crack IMO.

Whether Nuge will start first choice and, more importantly, whether he will remain there, will largely depend on his performances. I imagine we'll be in for at least one striker in the window.

But I'd happily give this squad a fair crack at the league above, rather than let everyone whose contract is running out go on a free, and have a big rebuild.

Not yet. I think a striker is a top priority though. Vardy will be picked ahead of Nuge. Vardy plus one, with Nuge and Wood as back up is pretty decent.

Nuge never has been 'prolific' in front of goal ... he's not like Rhodes, Le Fondre or the excellent current crop of Prem strikers - but he could have a role to play for us in the Prem as he is deceptively quick and also a 'clever' player ...

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us bring in a couple of striking options ... Ulloa is being mentioned ... I also wouldn't be entirely surprised if Nige hasn't has Asombalonga at Peterborogh watched ... good young player who seems to have a real knack in front of goal .. (fits the Pearson wish list)

In recent season Grant Holt and Rickie Lambert have go into the prem late in the careers and enjoy success

Nugent has changed his style of play over the last 12 months as we did use him as a striker while now we have him playing off the striker and dropping into the midfield at times. I think Nugent deserves a chance and while I dont think he will be a runaway success, I think he will prove the best a good player in the prem for us

I think as long as we carry on using him as we are now - aka not the 'main man' - then we should get on just fine i think.

Hes been consistently one of the better Sven buys over the last 3 seasons, think Pearson appreciates his work ethic. His goal tally has been pretty consistent too.

Nugent is a very good all-round footballer, more of a support striker than predatory finisher, but I think he could be one of our best players in the PL. Top scorer 3 years running- that warrants a new contract for me. He's such a gent as well.
