Both have just rejected contracts form Ipswich, so now are free agents when there contracts run out.

I think both would be a welcome addition to the squad. Norris especially as he is the type of player we are lacking in centre mid, some may argue that he is in the same mould as Danns but would definitely bring bags of experience at this level and some quality and bite to the midfield. McAuley has also played a lot at this level and although i don't see him as a starter i think he would be a decent player to have as back up. Admitidely both are the wrong side of 30, with Norris 30 and McAuley 31 but would be on fairly low wages and obviously cost nothing.

    Thoughts?

I think Norris would be a good signing, used to play for us, he could play in the centre with Evans, with Danns and Stewart on the wings. McAuley I think is a left back? Anyway if we sign Dudgeon, then we've got Dawson as cover, who may be on the slow side, but when you think about it, McAuley is only 2 years younger

Chuck Norris would probably be a good signing otherwise....

Oh my mistake, i always thought that McAuley was a centre back. Yes i agree a midfield of Danns, Evans, Norris, Stewart would be good. A nice blend of youth and experience.

I thought the same when I saw Norris had been released. He'd really add something to our midfield!

I noticed on the Ipswich board, that Norris has been completely slated this season and they can't wait to get rid of him.

I'm not sure why, he's looked good playing against us for both Plymouth and Ipswich.

Would both be decent signings and Norris has always impressed me when i've seen him play. Ipswich have had a wretched season, average finish and 2 heavy defeats against their local rivals so they won't be a cheerful bunch right now and won't be looking at many of their players very favourably.

Danns is a central midfield player. lets not waste another good player 'Koren' out on the wings. put Danns and another in the middle of the park and let Stewart and a new winger play out wide as it should be.

Yeah, some mong on the original 606 demanded I explain why I inisted they were welcome to him, before having a pop at our players:

    "WhiteRoseTiger, why is he?

Because he refused to take a pay cut?

How many footballers do you know that would voluntarrily take a pay cut? John Utaka at Pompey was on £80k a week and he didn't take one yet he's not strung up as some sort of Anti-christ by Pompey fans.

It was the Chairman's fault that they paid him what they paid him; Nigel Pearson's fault that he refused to play him; the rest of your pathetic squad's fault for getting relegated."

It really irks me when people like this pretend to know all of the facts. But to sum up just how easy-to-please this guy is, he claims Bullard has 'revolutionised their play', as they were '18th when he signed'. Wow, he's got them to 13th. Great. I also, apparently, need to see that 'Jimmy is one of the good guys'. <doh>

No reply anyway when I explained about him turning down Celtic.

Rosie, when it comes to dick-heads, they only hear their own voice droning on!!

P.s. "old"606, as far as I am concerned! They take my licence fee but do not cater for me as a majority viewer/listener, and treat me less than a Punjabi youth viewer/listener!!!!!!

Norris strikes me as a Corry Evans type player. Would be a decent addition to the midfield, has always been decent when I have seen him. At 30 he still has a few years left in him yet - unlike the OAP Michael Brown...

It turned out that the Michael Brown story was rubbish, we were never interested in him.

He gets paid a lot, but that doesn't have to make him a bad person. Essentially what the Ipswich fan you've quoted as saying is right. He's a good player who's paid too much, but there are worse value-for-money players in our squad than him. If we're paying £300k for Evans (it doesn't sound like much after what we've become used to with PB and PD but we aren't paying those kinda sums any more) to be either a benchwarmer or really average in the starting XI, I'd rather see Bullard be overpaid.

Sorry peeps, but going by what Steve Cotterill has been hinting at for a few months, Norris wants to play for Pompey. That's if we can get the ownership of the club sorted out. As for Utakas pay, depending what source you believe, his pay packet was anything from £26k - as you say £80k a week. He himself claimed it was 26 grand. Just don't understand why he would get out of bed each day for such a pittance.
