Yesterday, He said that he was unfairly treated and that he should've been given more time at Manchester United, I'm sorry but I disagree, It was 10 months too late in my opinion, he shouldn't of been given the job in the first place personally, I had to support him because Sir Alex Ferguson said it was our job as fans to stand by him, I gave him enough time up until the Fulham game, He had to go after that but he didn't.

He also said Jose Mourinho would've struggled at Manchester United in 2013, I mean, really, Is he having a laugh, I'm glad he's not our manager anymore, we were playing crap football under him, he wasted almost a whole summer trying to sign Cesc Fabregas, he also said that we agreed a deal to sign Toni Kroos before he went to Real Madrid, there's a reason why that happened, Players like Toni Kroos want to play for world-class managers not for David Moyes.

I said at the time he had an impossible task and should be given time. Even when the defeats were piling up and records were tumbling (this and that team have not won at OT for 70 years until then ...).

The things that sealed his fate for me were:

    1. He was completely overawed by the size of the task like a rabbit in the headlights.

    2. His recruitment strategy (or non-recruitment) was poor. He went for fabregas when the player had no intention of coming here. He recruited Fellaini and at a higher price than the escape clause in his contract. The examples are too many to mention.

    3. The worse one and the one which destroyed any support for him from the supporters: his constant bigging up of the opposition. He was probably doing it to ensure fans knew the size of his task when playing this and that team. But to admit that we are not at the level of the opposition when we are champions? He didn't do it once . He did it umpteen times. Basically he was trying to bring the club and fans down to his level rather than bringing himself up to the level of the club and the fans.

    4. I couldn't see him bringing any improvements in the team's fortunes even in the long term. So no point in prolonging the agony.

Yes, even in retrospect, the right decision was made.

Moyes made one big mistake which sadly sealed his fate before he had even begun.

He got rid of the backroom staff at OT.

Personally, I would've liked to have given him more time. Look at the last 3 years. What did we have to lose?

Absolutely agree. It was a colossal mistake to get rid of Phelan and Rene - it was well known that SAF had a more 'hands-off' approach than most thought and it was those two guys who really knew the squad inside out - and they also had their trust and respect.

Had Moyes kept them on and had he been able to get in Kroos (Bale would only have considered coming to us if SAF had been in charge - the same for CR) things might - just might, have been different. As it was he screwed up the whole thing, wrong backroom team, Fellaini instead of Kroos - and the whole thing went 5hit-shaped from then on. He has only himself to blame...........and he knows it.

Another problem with Moyes is that he was never going to be able to attract those players that we missed out on. Ronaldo and Bale aren't likely to leave Real Madrid anyway but they certainly won't to play for Moyes.

Definitely the contributing factor to our very rapid decline from champions to also rans. When he did it, I straightaway thought that was a massive blunder. The only continuity that the players had with previous success had been destroyed. He didn't realise then what he was doing. I am sure in retrospect he would have wanted to leave things in place for a while.

I think it has been confirmed that even SAF told him to keep the two men on - so Moyes ignored the best advice he ever had.

"Moyes admits he was handicapped from the start after being promised Galactico signings, and ending up with Marouane Fellaini."

    <laugh>
    This is too funny!

Treble nailed it! There's not much more to say about Moyes.

He needs to move on though. He needs to stop talking sht in the press about "traditions". He gets rid of the full backroom staff and has the nerve to point fingers. What a fkin tool!! He has proved that we were right to get rid of him. He hasn't exactly shown us anything to suggest that we made we mistake, has he?

The reason I believe we're spending a lot of money on players because to fix the mess that he put us in.

I wouldnt take it personally. Every manager at the bottom, whether it's Moyes or Ranieri, will say this sort of stuff in order to put a positive spin on their own management because their jobs are under threat.

I think the problem Moyes had was that he took over a team who the fans expected to win most games, as that's what they had been used to. So because Moyes was the first man after Sir Alex Ferguson everyone just assumed he was fully to blame for the big slide in league position. Now though I think they are realising with how LVG got on, and how Mourinho is doing with us in 6th place that losing SAF is the main problem, and he's impossible to replace. So everyone is now kind of accepting that it's likely to be a long journey getting us back to the top of the game. So LVG and Mourinho have had a much easier time when results have gone against us.

After 3 years fans are starting to accept what was obvious at the time: that it was going to be a huge task to replace a man who ran every aspect of the club. But the first important thing was to recognise it. Even Ferguson himself didn't. What the club could have done was to mitigate the difficulties. Moyes with no history of success couldn't do it without any help. Ferguson having seen what happened with Busby didn't want to interfere but this is exactly what Moyes needed. He needed all the help he could get: Ferguson's advice, the old coaches in place, the senior players helping with the transition. Instead we had the biggest cock up possible. Moyes removed any trace of the old regime, most of the senior players left even though they had a lot to contribute. And he was left to build a new team from scratch.

The other option was to recruit Mourinho who had experience of success. Even he would had problems but at least he would have known who to let go and who to retain to keep the team going.

Expensive lesson for the club. I am sure Arsenal are watching and learning and will find the best solution when Wenger leaves.

Disagree Shergar, plenty of people were willing to give Moyes time.

LVG was also given time but the difference between Moyes and LVG was that Moyes still had room for improvement.

As for Mourinho, he's had 5 months and there is a marked difference (and progress) between him and his 2 predecessors.

Well we are 6th having spent an absolute fortune. We are just moving sideways with managerial appointments and progress from what I've seen. It's easy to jump on the bandwagon of the last 6 league games. But I'm not convinced were going to end up any better than LVG had us in the league.

Try the last 13 then? We're unbeaten in them and improving all the time.

And we're 6th, in the semi-final of the EFL and it's ONLY been 5 months under Mourinho. What did you expect in such a short period under a new manager? Serious question.

You're comparing him to LVG. Do you not see any difference in the football we play between the two managers??
