Cardiff City would like to thank David for his services at the club over the past five years. Do you think this would have been a major headline if our number one and club captain had not been undergoing surgery to correct a long standing groin injury problem? Personally I believe the problem was only highlighted when his saleable value was being assessed by the club and had he been fit enough during this window he would have been sold off to a decent Championship or struggling Prem side.
I'm positive Marshall was being lined up for a move this January. Indications have been that the club is reducing it's wage bill, and Marshie wouldn't have signed that new 5 year contract last year without being offered a major monthly punch in the wallet. The reported £6M cash or thereabouts he'd have brought in would have helped pay the bills as well. His reported injury may be the only thing that keeps him at the club right now, but he'll be gone in the summer. We've been reported as trying to get a couple of Italian keepers on board recently and there's no way we'd need them with Moore already playing second fiddle to Marshie. No smoke without fire. The recent evidence is that the club (Tan?) is cashing in some of its' chips and replacing them with lower league prospects/journeymen brought in by a lower league manager. That could work out in the long run, but it could put us down a division to start off from if it doesn't work this next 3 months.
To balance the books he should have been one of the first to go IMO. Moore is a capable if unspectacular replacement. A team balancing the books cannot afford a £6m keeper on PL wages. The problem is our decent fire sale demonstrates we'll probably slap someone's hand off for a couple of mill in the summer.
I was told this by someone with inside knowledge and made a post saying this about 12 days ago. He was off to Everton until the groin was advised.
If Slade is to believed, they're taking an unusual approach to fixing his groin. They've operated about 30 inches away.
