Would love to see David Luiz in the midfield holding role. Good tackler, great range of passing and the odd rash moment not so costly. Anyone agree?

He did that for his club in brazil and played so badly he nearly got released. CB is his best role.

Until the Bison returns, there is always the possibility we may have to play him there if anything happened to Mikel. Lets hope it doesn't come to that!

Disagree, we have ramires who can and romeu! Maybe if we were holding onto a win you put him there for 20 mins but not regular.

Have to agree with the Romeu thing. Looked very good in front of the back 4 against that club down the road. As for Luiz, he does go forward too much for my liking. If he were playing the holding roll he may go walkabouts. I would like to see how he and The Bison did together they could alternate, you know when one gets drawn forward the other one falls in to the hole created. They both have the ability and discipline to do it and it means we do not have a dedicated defensive/creative midfielder, but two who can fulfill both roles.

"Born in Diadema, São Paulo, David Luiz arrived in Esporte Clube Vitória at the age of 14 after being released by São Paulo FC,[2] and started playing as a defensive midfielder, almost leaving the club for his poor performances in that position"

Sadly i don't think Essien will ever be the same player, he unfortunately keeps getting injuries and i think there taking there toll on him as last season he looked a show of his old self, i personally think he'll leave at the end of the season and move to italy or germany a league where it's not so fast and competitive for him

Without a pre season under his belt, Essien doesn't have the same spark he does with one. I wouldn't even rush him back in January, just get him fully fit and give him a proper pre season and hopefully next season he'll be sound <ok>
