Good news for him Anyone reckon he'll continue playing, now he's been released by Bristol City ?? Personally, I think he'll continue being a pundit- as he is for the BBC at the Euros right now ..
Very well deserved award to Jamo. I read today that he wants to carry on playing next season, possibly in the Premier League if he can, as a back up goalie. Good luck to him. Wish he would rejoin PFC.
Where did you read that Wooperts? I watched an interview with Jamo on the BBC site where he said he wants to carry on....... and that the play sheet will have the MBE against his name........ only joking. Likewise, I wish he would rejoin Pompey.
If you are short of a keeper then I am your man. I've done my bit between the sticks from time to time. Mind you I can't jump or run anymore and have to walk with a stick and the old eysight isn't what it once was and a defender will have to take the goal kicks. I have always liked David James. He seems an intelligent, quiet, calm and cultured man and this honour was well deserved. He's the sort of bloke you could enjoy a drink and a chat with down the pub.
Needs must Godders. I've been in touch with the Football League Inclusion and diversity unit and they have agreed that if you do sign for Pompey, you will be entitled to defend this goal instead of the normal sized one. please log in to view this image
I was sitting in the cafe at Sainsburys yesterday, having a cup of tea & reading one of the newspapers - may have been The Mirror - it mentioned it in there. He apparently has his eyes on beating John "Budgie" Burridge's premiership goalkeeping record of the most appearances. Think he may have left it too late, so should; as a consolation; rejoin PFC as goalie/coach. He is probably a bit too old for Appy to consider.........
Blimey, that name would rival Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. Who could afford to pay to have his name printed on the back of a replica shirt ?!
I like to read his blogs in the Observer every 2/3 weeks. When he left Brizzle he did a blog on what he's going to do next, and said that Steve Cotterill had offered him a player/coach role (goalie coach) and that after thinking about all the problems associated with being between the 2, players and coaches, he turned it down. The things that bothered him were, would the players think he'd tell the manager things they said, would he get changed in the team room or with the coaches etc. All weak stuff like that. They don't live in the world we inhabit do they these footballers. He also said that he is still quite childish (because of the way football is run) so that went a long way to explaining things from his perspective. I was slightly peeved with his thinking, but to be fair he would have had another period of not being paid again so I could forgive him for that.
Spot on Godders He is also very passionate about Portsmouth FC, and it certainly wouldn't surprise me if he did appear in a Pompey shirt again.
He's bound to wear a Pompey shirt again at one point. He'll either have a testimonial or be in the masters tournament but I dont see that there's any chance of him coming back here to play for the first team. Maybe he'll return as a coach - he did express a desire to take up coaching and management before.
He's got his UEFA A badge and is starting his B badge training so seems to be quite intent on becoming a manager at some point. His stint in the championship won't have done him much harm either, things are quite different to the Prem - League 1 is also different to the championship so he ought to get some experience there as well as it would hold him in good stead for a career in management - he isn't likely to start off managing in the Prem.
