He's been called up to the Spain squad, congratulations to him, he deserves it.

Matth while only a provisional squad the rules state the 23 man final squad must contain 3 keepers so yes on one hand he has done well, but in order to be number 1, he has to oust Casillas and Reina. I doubt that is likely to happen tbh.

I know but its a great opportunity for him to show he's the future of spanish football and i wouldn't put it past him being the 3rd choice goalkeeper at euro 2012.

I think it's a good situation. He's not going to get too tired or injured since he's never going to kick a ball, but training with Spain should help him and watching Casillas up close he might learn something.

Valdes will be back in for the Euros.

Give it 5 years though and I can see De Gea as Spain #1

Reina has had a fairly rubbish season and del Bosque might be thinking about the future so he may just pick DDG as #3

    I agree.

Valdes is only out of the friendlies because of the Cup final, but when your GK is the captain there's no chance anyone else is going to play, barring injury... So it makes sense to take a very good youngster as your number 3 GK, rather than Reina who is not much younger than the other two...
