Goalkeeping coach David Coles has left Pompey after talks with Richie Barker. Physio and assistant manager Steve Allen also left last night after three-and-a-half years on the south coast. With Barker bringing in Anthony Williams to serve as both his assistant and goalkeeping coach, Colesâ short-term agreement was brought to a conclusion. Macca next to go ? That would be a shame to my mind. A new broom, etc........
One man cannot be both assistant manager and goalkeeping coach. Therefore I would suggest we bring in the legend that is David James to fill the latter role.
BRISTOL City have appointed Steve Allen as the club's new head physiotherapist. The news comes following the departure of Michael McBride. Allen, 47, has been recruited from League Two club Portsmouth, where he previously worked under City boss Steve Cotterill. Cotterill said: "He's someone I've known for a long time and I'm delighted he has agreed to join us and work with the existing staff already here." Allen boasts a wealth of football experience, having been with Colchester United, Wimbledon, Crystal Palace, Cardiff City, West Ham United, Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth.
