i dunno if he can. probably, his delivery is still excellent, but he shouldnt just be in the team based on his set piece delivery. he made the worst possible career choice moving to LA. oh how i bet he could go back and stay in europe.
I think (and I'm gonna disagree hugely with SAF) that he can play a good role as a deep lying playmaker in the "quarterback" position.
no no no no remember the media circus just training with spurs? imagine him coming back to play for united. no no
For England not us. Besides, people never rejoin United. I was referring to back when we played AC Milan and SAF said "IDK why they played him in the centre, I would have used him out wide"
I agree with the OP, Beckham is still Englands best right winger, he's no where near what he was but he's better than the likes of Lennon who can only run at an opponent and cut in, Beckham would have been much better at the World Cup than what we had. Maybe Walcott is a better option or becoming a better option because at least he can be a bit unpredictable, but Englands wingers are crap as are our holding mid-fielders, we have some quality there with Carrick but if you play Carrick you must play him defensiverly to soak up some of the pressure on our defence like Fergie uses him. Capello seems to have this thing though where he'll take a player like Gerrard who plays wonderfully for Liverpool just off the front man and he'll stick him on the left wing. He tries to shoe horn too many of the same type of player into the team.
Wide player then, he's still arguably Englands best wide player, potentially Walcott is better and in a few years Adam Johnson might have progressed to be a good player, but right now we don't have much quality out wide and Beckham is still right up there compared to what we have ability wise.
I still think he has a role to play, at least from the bench. Similar to the way Scholes still influences United.
