Malky goes on and on about no ego's in this squad. So that ends any of these ridiculous thoughts.
Let's get back to the real football.

Way too much wages and old. Could think of many I'd buy before him. Let PSG waste a ton of Arab money on him.

No chance, too likely to disrupy Malky's team ethos - and is he fit, strong and tough enough for our league? No to all those.

Let him stay at Beckingham Palace in his double fenced compound near Sawbridgeworth, nicely on the flight path in and out of Stanstead, ideal for the planes to empty their toilets.

    Not impressed then BfB.
You're right. We have a right winger who is faster and a dead ball specialist who is better. These two also tackle and don't bottle challenges.

i think people may have missed the '*i'm thinking that he will go to PSG, we havent a cats chance of signing him.' part of my post lol

why all the beckham hating? i know we wont signing but in football he is as dedicated and professional as they get, i wish him all the best whichever club he goes to, and he will have the pick of about 10 teams and will be in demand....

what is with people in this country about players must be able to run at 100mph and tackle hard, how about players who can play the game? any old player can run around and stick a foot in, spanish people would laugh off such a notion from you!

i suppose the thinking is, more rooney / terry than scholes / beckham, which is true, sadly. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I'm afraid I have to say I'm very much with Swamp on this one.

Becks has and always will be one of my very favourite footballers.

In the 2003/2004 season I was fortunate enough to see the Galacticos play at the Bernabeu.
I saw players such as ZiZou, Figo, Carlos, The Ronaldo, Casillas, Salgado, Guti, Raul, and Helguera.

To this day, the best player on the pitch by a country mile was Beckham.

He plays a type of game where pace isn't that key because he always manages to find space, he has an unbelievable footballing brain.
The best vision, passer, free-kick taker and the most hard-working footballer I have ever seen. He also has a few tricks up his sleeve and can put in one hell of a tackle. Also he conducts himself brilliantly off the pitch nowadays.

That all being said, in reality, do I think he would make that much of a difference to Cardiff?

No, he MIGHT be able to win us a thousand leagues but in reality I really think it would prove more of a ridiculous and overly expensive distraction.
(One which I would wholeheartedly buy into that being said)

    And finally.

HAHA! He would never consider coming here anyway, but there's no harm in the hypothetical!
What I would love to see is one of my favourite players tearing up the Premier League for one last season.
    West Ham?

He would sell a few shirts, but i doubt he would even get in our team presently. Who would you drop to put Beckham in place of ??

this article was meant to be tongue in cheek, hence the

    part.

but thankfully at least we have one other person who recognises that a footballer of that class and ability doesnt need to run around to make a difference and be effective at the highest level of football. scholes doesnt need to run around and look busy to be effective, and neither does beckham.

similarly, you dont see the best defenders running around like headless chickens making goalline clearances and last ditch tackles because they read the game and avoid getting into those situations.

i just find it ridiculous that people think because he has created a worldwide brand, somehow his supreme technical ability (on a par with scholes as the best the UK has produced in the last 20 years), counts for nothing, however that insular view didnt stop ac milan twice coming in for him, and other teams will recognise his ability now and go out and sign him......<ok>

He's 37 and been playing in a poor competition for 5 years. Agreed he was a great player in his time and had class and ability and was effective at the highest level at his prime - no question but haven't we got enough 30+ players already without thinking about adding another who would probably cost per week at least 50% of what we play our players in total.

All that aside, this is hypothetical as he would not want to come to us in the first place (before he even asks his trouble and strife) and I don't think VT would see it as positive in shelling out that sort of cash on one player when we need more defensive cover and a better front line striker in the short term.

    Good discussion point though. <ok>

That's my point. A 29 or 30 year old Beckham maybe. But he wouldn't improve our team in the championship now.
So who would we drop? Noone or Whittingham?
