http://www1.skysports.com/football/...rement-after-18-and-a-half-year-senior-career Gutted to see him retiring. Always looked up to him and as a kid I think everyone wanted to be him. Can remember being down the fields trying to copy his free kicks, Every hair style he has many would copy. A great player and a great man. Hope to see him involved in English football as he has represented us greatly. Everyone on the planet knows his name and im proud to say he's English. Thanks For The Memories David, You've been a great footballer to watch and grow up with please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
A true legend will be a big miss on the pitch, all kids should look at him as a true role model on and off the pitch.
Today, the man I'd still regard as England's best footballer retires. He's not the best because of his ability (although I doubt we'll see an England football with his technical ability again), or his fame. He's the best because he took a risk by signing outside of the Premier League. For him, that risk paid off significantly. After many issues with the Galacticos he persevered and won himself La Liga after being frozen out and reinstated. He then did something next to no players would do, and signed in an emergent league. Most fans dismissed him as "past it" then, but he continued for England and was the only high point of our time under McClaren. During this time, he also played for AC Milan, yet another top-quality team. Despite being "past it" in 2007, he won two more titles in America, and then moved to PSG, where he won another title. Before anyone says that he didn't help PSG, watch the highlights of those games. He did extremely well during his time at PSG.
I was at old Trafford for that Greece game, that free kick took us to Japan.. (3rd photo) If he had given me £100k out of his bank account instead, I could not have bought the memories I have from the world cup in japan, a fantastic country to visit. I have a lot to thank him for... and I do.
Quite sad really. I suppose this is the feeling woman had when take that broke up. Don't want Becks to retire
Doubt if he will stay in football in England as he has said he isn't suited to be a coach or manager, however he was making noises about returning to America in a couple of years and buying one of their football franchises so would be a chairman, mmmm wonder if he wants some boardroom experience he could always come to Ashton Gate after all he'd be fairly certain he wouldn't face Man Utd in the next couple of years, the reason he always refused to return to the premiership.
He said he wants to settle in England last I heard. He wanted his kids to finish school here. Hope he stays and gets involved in some way with out leagues.
