    Not football related I know, but..................

    When you reach a certain age all your childhood heroes start to 'pass on'.
    I spent many a sunny (or at least it seemed) hour at Nevil Road watching
    Arthur Milton stroke the ball around the field, and then field like a cat.
    And David Allen and John Mortimore would wheel in from opposite ends;
    bowling, it seemed for hours on end, tying the batsmen down.
    Now all three are gone.
    Thanks for the memories. R.I.P.

    Imagine; three local heroes who all played for England!

    Thanks for the memories of long warm days at Nevil Road.

    Actually, cold ones with rain. I think it was 1961and twenty one wickets fell on a rain affected turner. Glos v South Africa.
