Ok, so I can't expand too much on this but I have heard from someone with Spuds links that we have all but lined up David Ginola to take over from Parpoo. Apparently MA has had some influence in DG sitting his coaching badges.

Probably utter cr@p but just sharing. And, yes, I realise yesterday was April 1st.

    I've heard this as well.
The slant I have is that Pards will move upstairs as a DofF due to his connection to Mike.
As a DofF I think Pards would do OK and I'd jump at the chance of Ginola becoming our coach.
The brand of football would be nice on the eye.

Just don't see this happening and I wouldn't want it to happen. We'd be replacing one under qualified manager with another.

I can see where you are coming from but it would be exciting. We'd be replacing one manager who has proven he has limits (which are lower than we should be allowed to hope for) with an unknown quantity who could be better or could be worse. One thing you would expect a more fluid and exciting brand of attacking football. The most important aspect though if MA really had encouraged Ginola to get the qualifications is that it would be an indicator that MA actually thinks about and has a direction for the future of NUFC that isn't just chugging along surviving.

With that last part in mind it certainly seems even more unlikely, but I would be happy if it were true.

Problem is Pardew's signings would not make a brand of football that is nice on the eye.

For all the love for his time here he has done nowt for a career in either coaching or management, he has spent more time taking acting lessons and being a pundit, shampoo anyone.

Maybe he can at least teach the players to act like footballers.

Age v experience? Foreign v British?

    It's a tricky one.

Oh I'm sure they can do that already, temper tantrums, bling, Bentleys, shagging and gagging, along with loads of money, I would rather that they played like professional footballers though.

We all would, however as they don't, it would be nice to see them trying to.

It's one of the reasons why I would like to see all players on a base salary of say £10k a week and then paid for performance on top, problem is they are on far more and receiving bonus's for goals etc now so no chance, even average players are on £30k a week and it's appalling that they seem so disinterested in performing some weeks. It's not just us of course, any number of matches that I watch over a season and wonder what some of these guys are doing on the pitch, you've got to wonder how they manage to be world beaters one moment and crap the next, players need to accept far more of the blame than they do when they screw it up.

It's just another "Messaih" type thing for me. It would be no different from appointing Cantona as our manager other than the fact he never player for us and I bet 99%of us wouldn't want him in charge.

It's a massive no for me...take away the emotional side of it and his credentials are non existent. He was a flair player but so was Dalglish and look at his Newcastle team, a boring, robotic mess if memory serves me right. If we're going to change manager (which I highly doubt anyway) then the appointment needs to be the right one, they need to be happy to build a team slowly over a couple of seasons, they need to have a history of doing this with at least one other team (with a relatively small budget) and they also need to have a known football philosophy of wanting (and getting) their teams to play football on the deck.

Also Pardew is currently the manager of a top half, premier league club and has aspirations to manage England one day (may well be unrealistic) but moving in to a DOF role would all but end the achievability of this for him. He'll then look at people like Curbishley, McLeish, O'Leary, Graham etc and realise that it only takes one year of being out of football management to be forgotten for good.

I'm all for replacing Pardew if the opportunity to replace with better is there. If we're just going to take a punt on the next cult hero then nine times out of ten we'll end up in the same position as we are now in two years time.

Have you had any former players as managers, apart from Keegan?
