Sad to read this on the Swans website. SWANSEA CITY IS SAD TO ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF THE CLUB'S FORMER GOALKEEPER DAVE STEWART, AGED 71. Born in Glasgow, Stewart made 57 appearances for the Swans after joining from West Brom for £55,000 in February 1980. He was ever present during the club’s promotion campaign in 1981 as the Swans sealed their place in Division One with victory at Preston on the final day of the season. Stewart won one cap for Scotland and also represented Ayr United and Leeds United, for whom he played in the European Cup final in 1975. Swansea City Football Club would like to pass on its thoughts and condolences to Dave’s family and friends at this sad time. I thought that he was great for us and I remember thinking he was ‘hard done by’ when they signed Dai Davies as ‘Number One’
very sad, was close to mr Stewart, he played for my father at Sketty Park when he finished pro football. sad loss.
