Watched the Wednesday players getting off the bus yesterday. DJ got off number 5 I think.

Several kids and fans asking for his autograph etc but he completely ignored them and went straight into the dressing room|

I know he is no longer our manager and some will say 'good' but I would have thought he would have had the decency to acknowledge our fans yesterday who took the time to acknowledge him and in particular the youngsters.

Just my thoughts.

Any views?
 
When Dave Jones was here I pretty much backed him until the last few weeks. Yes, I always knew he was somewhat misanthropic and a bit grumpy; I knew too that he moaned about the press. I thought him pretty stoic when it came to personal abuse that was beneath contempt and that he did pretty well on the whole for us as a manager, in not always easy circumstances. But what's also become crystal clear — if it wasn't before — is that moaning, whining, complaining and being generally bitter and ungracious in defeat are his default mode. When will he ever learn to simply be honest and say something along the lines of 'they were the better team, they deserved the win We did our best but it didn't quite come off today.' ? Go on, Dave, try it; you may even win some people over ... you scouse git.
 
A difficult time for all. I don't think he knew how the crowd would react, hence him appearing at the dugout a minute or two after kick off rather than as the teams run out.

A shame that he wouldn't sign autographs.
 
His comments before and after the match were embarrassing.

I cant believe he had the cheek to comment about wage bills!!!!!!!!!

Given the prmiership loanees and the bigger salaries of Chops, Jay and a few others, I can't imagine our current wage bill being hugely more than when he was here. Higher maybe, but not significantly. We've not got more bodies than when DJ was here and a lot of the players MM signed last season (Cowie, Conway, Gunnar, Kiss, etc) won't be on big bucks.

The big difference for MM than for DJ is that we spent £10M in transfers rather than sold £10M.

His first trip back is over now, so we can turn the page and move on.
 
he's a good manager, but he's got the personality of a rock, and has a complete disregard for the most important people at a football club - the fans.

i saw his comments the other day about their shocking start to the season he said 'get mourinho in he wouldnt do any better'. what a ****ty, arrogant attitude that is. its never his fault and all he said about us was 'they've spent a fortune so they should be up there'. i get the impression that he's there for the pay cheque and the fans deserve someone who represents their football club well in terms of PR, he doesnt.
 
Yes, I saw him rush in past the fans - even the half dozen or so Wednesday fans. A couple of their players stopped to sign autographs as did Nicky Maynard when asked outside the main entrance. Nice lad, all done with a smile and no rush - good attitude.

I don't suppose Maynard was having to rush to get changed so had plenty of time............

It must be hard for him coming to the games knowing he should be playing. Shows solidarity.
 
I was surprised there was no acknowledgement of Jones by the stadium announcer. I would have given him polite applause as he managed the club through a difficult period with a number of good achievements.
 
I wasn't aware of the respectful reception to which reference is made in the article. All I heard was a largish number of fans disrespectfully singing "You'll get sacked in the morning".
 
yes, and in the hype of scoring the goal i joined in ;)

no regrets at all, recently jones has shown very little respect to our club and what malky has done with his dismissive comments towards our form so far.

contrast it to managers like mick mccarthy, harry redknapp etc who upon being sacked by their clubs both acknowledged how nice it was managing them, how good the fans were, and how they wish the clubs all the best in the future.
 
It's funny about how you tend to think of a manager and the things fans say about him.

When he was with us, I tended to sympathise with his approach to interviews and often dour replies from the point of view that he was OUR manager.

Now though, I can see the opposition fan's side of the story. He comes across as a miserable and often opinionated git who will admit no flaws in his managerial abilities. He gives no credit to opposition sides and totally lacks any humility.

Personally speaking, getting rid of him was a relief, and Malky's arrival a huge bonus.
 
yes, according to him the fans are just a load of thick peasants who know the square root of **** all about football, no surprise that no-one cared 2 hoots he was sacked here, and i suspect wednesday fans wont be shedding too many tears when he leaves them.
