I am the first to say what dickheads our footballers have become over the years, but I'd like to say a big thank you to Darren Purse for the hour and a half he spent coaching our U15's .... what a genuinely lovely lad he is. He reckons we are going to have a much better season although we could do with a couple of new players to strengthen the team.

Many thanks again for the brilliant coaching session.

"Lad"?????? Very nice of you to say he is a lad Grannie Gat. He's older than my socks but a bit younger than my boxers but he isn't a lad. Was he any good as a Coach though even if he was a very nice man.

The manager let him take over the whole of coaching session and what I liked was that if one of the lads made a mistake, instead of shouting he ran over to where they were and explained how it could have been done properly ..... even when he was talking to me he was watching the lads ..... and as I said before he is a genuinely nice lad ...... think I'm old enough to be his mum lol

Nice to see some of the players get out and about. A couple of those young lads might just become Argyle supporters because of the personal contact with a player. I suspect they all do a stint and so they should. It's much better if they are genuine about it as well. Bet the kids loved it.

Put it this way Sensible there were more Argyle shirts out on the pitch than Manure and Barcelona ones lol ...... they really loved it and worked really hard at whatever task he set them to do ................ maybe they do all take turns in going out into the community but he seemed to want to be there and it showed how he was with the lads !

I had a few of the argyle players come and coach or present trophies when I was managing a DJM side and they all did a great job with the kids. It really does get the kids supporting Argyle too. Paul Boardman was doing it for a while after he retired due to injury, or maybe whilst injured, and was excellent. I think he had a title along the lines of community football development coach not sure if they are still doing that now though.

Good news and well done Darren Purse.

Apart from the good it does for the community, doesn't the club need that contact though given the number of simpletons in PL shirts we see wandering around the town....
