He's out for the rest of the season after undergoing bowel surgery, let's hope he returns to the player that dominated our midfield.
Feel sorry for the lad, he got to where he was from hard work without masses of talent. I dont think he will ever be a regular for united again. Once fergie goes, so will his love child
****ing hell, this is wierdly topical. For me. My old mates from 606 know this but I'll tell you all now, I also suffer from this. And it's a ****ing ****. No idea what level Darren Fletcher is at but even though when first diagnosed mine was described as severe it's never got me down, never had a single day off work for instance and I am, this very minute, just off the phone to my doctor having had a relapse since just before Christmas. It is, quite ****ing literally, a pain in the arse! Got to take steroids, which means I pork out which is a gutter given I'm not drinking so should be losing weight! Then I will need to wean myself back off them when it settles back down. But yeah, I play squash three times a week and am ok, play golf every week without once ****ting myself, hold down a great job and don't let the ****er get me down, other than to be an occasional nowty bugger. Usually on here! In other words, he'll be fine.
feel sorry for the lad. I do really feel sorry for him. but im sure he will always have a place back on the team when he fully recovers and he will get his form back he had two years ago and start dominating midfield.
Footballing rivalries aside... I wish him all the best in his recovery and 'The Chief'... to you the same... hope it sorts itself out mate
Sorry to hear that Chief, good on you for keeping your spirit and being honest, giving us some context to a delicate subject.
Surely Fletcher won't be able to take steroids whilst he's playing football? Without those the inflammation will probably be hard to manage.
I find it quite cathartic to tell people to be honest, I don't bother face to face with folk so it's ok to do so on here. It is also an opportunity to reassure that, while it can be serious, it's also something that can be controlled and dealt with. In some people it can be really rather serious but thankfully I don't think I'm at that stage. Bit of a shock when came back though I must say, it could have ruined my Christmas! It's also a lot better than what I thought it was though when it first happened, and that is cancer. Got hospital appointment on the 30th but I think I'll be sorted by then anyway.
Not sure, it's not like they're anabolic. You don't get niggles when on them though, that's for sure.
"Whilst it is frustrating for both Darren and the Club that he won’t be able to contribute further during this campaign, this decision has been taken with our full support in the best interests of his long-term health and we look forward to him returning next season with this problem firmly behind him." 'Kin Ell..Kick a man while he's down.
Think that's the big thing. No matter what the mechanism, if they are performance enhancing even in terms of recovery they'll probably be banned.
Gutted Chief, thanks for explaining that to me, i was about to ask a question if anyone on here had the condition.
