I was really impressed with Darren Bent's performance for England last night. Fabio Capello is right, he has really improved since he has joined Aston Villa. This was highlighted by his goal. Many will say that it was an easy tap-in, but he showed great anticpation to be in the right place at the right time. Most of Gary Linekar's goals were scored from inside the 6 yard box, showing the same anticipation. Darren Bent's whole body language showed that he is much happier now, he constantly ran the channels, both giving the player with the ball options, and also creating space for them to run into (like he did for Young, who then shot wide), and on another day he could have grabbed a couple more goals. He has also scored two goals in three games for his new club, so it looks like the lad is really benefitting from moving to a bigger club. Well done Darren.
The big ones only like to come out under the cover of darkness. Force of habit I'd assume after spending so many years in the shadows.
This man does not crumble : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9392873.stm
The Dutch tv must have shown a different version of the game you watched, I thought England were crap, OK we WON,,,,,, What happens when we play for real, Bent a good goal scorer, but not a team player. If this is our future, thank farg we got cricket, rugby ,karate and rounders, something we can win at. bring in an English manager before another world cup passes us by.
Reasonable try Simon. But B€nt has improved while at Villa as much as Carroll has at Liverpool.
I have a lot of time for Mr.Bent. A proven Premier League striker with deadly finishing, great pace, good ability with the ball, very good work-rate and a class goalscorer. If it wasn't for his mackem connection he'll be the first striker on my target list!
