What's the guy's story? Still only 29 and a proven goalscorer. Available for £5m which seems a snip.
I read earlier that three prem clubs are in for him, Newcastle, Norwich and Fulham I think? Besides I don't think Harry is that keen on him. He outed him from Spurs, and there is some video footage that cuts to Harry after Bent missed a sitter, '' My f***ing Mrs would've scored that. '' Is what I think he said. He was gone shortly after that.
Incredible! Kerry mate, I was about to open a debate on this very subject myself today. As I actually brought it up when discussing various transfers and rumours with a mate of mine. Darren Bent is on massive money at Villa, the main reason they want to get rid. Last summer they asked for £10-12 mill, this year they want £5m apparently. Where have you heard that figure? Still a couple of mill's to much imo. So what do we get from him? Goals guaranteed if played regularly, and someone who will still do the bizz if we are promoted. For the right price and wages a big yes from me. £3-4 mill transfer fee and £30k a week with added incentives coming if promoted, big bonus and double wages. Like Nines say, he has a history with Harry. But he was sold because Harry could bring in better while at Spurs. A pragmatic Harry could go for Bent knowing full well he could be good for 30 goals in the Championship with the right carrot dangling in front of him. But if there is interest from Prem teams then the level of football and money would be difficult to compete with as long as we are sensible with money. If not then anything is possible.
Can't see him accepting £30k a week, when they've been on top money they seem to think they've a divine right to it regardless of the fact he's been injury-prone and doesn't contribute much in work-rate. If we're truly to change the ethos at Loftus Road this wouldn't be in the script...
You simply cannot expect a man to go from earning 80k or whatever he's on now to 30k. How would he survive? How can you trim the shopping budget to accommodate that change? He'd probably have to cancel sky movies and sport and just watch free view. He might even have to lose the pet insurance and do odd jobs around the house himself instead of getting someone in. Some of you need to get with the real world.
Not for me. Sat on the bench all last year with no real complaint. Don't think he has anything to offer us.
Never said he would accept £30k. Said if a deal was to be done it would be for the right money, for US! £30k would be the right money and he would double it if he fired us to promotion plus a hefty bonus to compensate the loss of wages playing in the championship. He is a London boy, he gets you goals. He offers a lot more than Zamora and Johnson, simple.
