I think some of the responses here may be colourful lol. Now I personally do not but i can see the viewpoint from the people who do. In my honest opinion without the guy the season before last we would have got 10-15 points less than we had and would have been relegated. Back in the doldrums after the optimistic times of Keane and Drumaville followed by Short. In a way he used us to get his own career back on track and we used him to get ourselves back on track. We relaunched his england career and put his name back on the map just like we benefited from his goals to put us back on the map. Maybe im overanalysing things but without him I dont think we would have the likes of Sess, Gyan, O'Shea, Gardner and Larsson. So I say thankyou Darren Bent for the work you did for us just like he should be thankful to us for the work we did for him. At the end of the day his exit was a shock which probably pushed people into an angry reaction but given time to think about it his time here was succesful for both parties. I personally wont boo the lad when he returns and will give him a warm round of applause (Ill probably get a slap round the head for it from fellow fans but im big enough and ugly enough to stand up for my own opinions and not be swayed by the majority) Anyone else not hate the guy?
I can't look at the **** without my blood boiling. I know i should rise above it, but i can't. I most likely won't be at the match, but i'll be in the SAFC supporters bar over here, i'll video the reaction to him on iphone and post it here. I don't object to players leaving, i object to bullshit and excuses, it's not so much the Villa move for me, but the Turkey story. He can **** right off. I can't say 'hate' i can say despise.
Look at it this way mate. In life there are only a few things you love unconditionally. Family, music, cars and SAFC. If someone did anything to hurt my family, i'd go apeshit. If i couldn't hear music, i'd be inclined to murder. If someone damaged my car, i'd go ****ing mental. Bent hurt one of the loves of my life in such a way, that to forgive him would be to compromise myself.
Bent is a grade A, 24 carat, pillock. He jumped ship from the club that resurrected his career to join a relegation-threatened team ten places below us and said it was for "football" reasons. To paraphrase Brian London, there are three reasons why Darren Bent moved: pounds, shillings and pence. He will deserve everything he gets when Villa play at the SoL
All due respect mate you say you love cars by the sound of it you put your car in a pretty ****ed up situation earlier on today lol. I guess i see where your coming from but i still believe that from the positive things he did with his contributions to the club he has balanced out the negatives he did by leaving in the circumstances he did.
He's like the ever growing number of players who have an over inflated opinion of their own ability. This followed by silly wages for average players which i don't mind if the clubs are willing to pay it, but i think the league/clubs are playing a dangerous game. The gap between the fans and the players is ever growing with them often being looked on as some sort of celebrity/role model(god knows why?). IMO this can lead to the fan base becoming disillussioned when they feel let down and voting with their feet.
Ha ha. To be fair it was a pretty unlikely chain of events, i didn't plot to burn my car out on a motorway by lighting a sock on fire, whilst i wore it!
please log in to view this image Posted this on another thread before, thought I'd post it again, thread seems suitable. Bent summed up everything that is wrong in modern football today when the pound signs appeared.
We never plan these things pal we would all be in mental asylums if we did. Ive always found if i want a tab in the car to use the lighter provided this way we never come in contact with a naked flame.
See, i never usually smoke in the car, in fact, that was the first (and last...) tab in the current motor. Sign from god??
Flag, I agree whole heartedly but don't you think the clubs/football as a whole has to burden some of the blame here. With the money in the game today I can see why the players say "I want some of that" and TBH if it was yourself or maybe A son of yours you have to ask yourself what would you do?
I thought he was a genuine guy - how wrong was I!!!!!!! I will deffo be making the trip from Scotland for the Vile game - the atmos will be electric. If he has any sense he will get an injury. Lol Bart
You might be right mate, and if it was my career and I was in a similar position then maybe I would go for the money, I don't really know as I'll never be in that position. What I do know is that from what I've read Bent had been sniffing around for a transfer long before us meagre supporters heard anything about it whilst families went ahead, bought merchandise, shirts with his name on the back, sung songs about him, praised him etc. Just wasn't a very classy club exit imo. It probably happens at other clubs too, but with us being Sunderland fans, it was certainly the most high profile case of a player leaving in this fashion that I can remember and it's left a sour taste. As for the money in the game, well that's another point altogether and it's way out of control. Surely there has to be a cap put onto transfers and wages sometime soon??
He effectively did to safc what giggsy did to his wife. I usually reserve my insults and booing for barcodes but mr bent shall feel the wrath.
He will deserve everything he gets when Villa play at the SoL [/QUOTE] I'd be careful what you wish for he's just a likely to come and put a couple of goals past us ..the greedy ****
I was of the same opinion as bb I was angry with him moving to villa but the story about willing to go to Fenerbache really boiled my piss the greedy ****ing ****. How funny is it that his three reasons for moving to villa were houllier, Young and Downing. Meh Meh Meh Meh
