Darren Barker won the IBF middleweight championship of the world last night over Daniel Geale. He won by split decision. I didn't think he won, but I'm in the minority on that. An incredible show of heart to get up from a body shot. Really gutsy performance and wonderful scenes at the end with everyone in tears. Really emotional stuff. It has been some journey
I was happy for him that he won but im not sure about the decision, I thought Geale deserved at least a draw but I would'nt say it was a stinking decision or anything it could have gone either way.
Apparently one of the cards scored the last round to Barker. Like you say, it wasn't a horrible decision or anything, but I did have it the other way. I am normally very influenced by the commentary but I felt they got it wrong too.
I thought it could have gone either way. Would not have been surprised to see a draw or a close decision either way. Good fight though.
Yeah, fair play. Strum is a winnable fight for the next one up. The scene is set now for an Irish and British series of fights. Steer clear of Golovkin altogether.
With Cleverly crest-fallen and Burns struggling, it's great to see Darren Barker finally achieve his dream. I wasn't overly convinced it shouldn't have been scored even but there you go. Barker just doesn't quit and it's really paid off for him, fair play.
