According to the Guardian we are in talks about a new 5 1/2 year contract with Darlow. A good or a bad move? Personally I think we'll sign him up then loan him out before selling him eventually...
Waste of what little funds we have. We have Woodman and Woolston - The England U21 and U17 keepers coming through - and Elliott and none of these are deemed good enough so Rafa wants another keeper in so why extend his contract if he's becoming 2nd/3rd choice potentially 4th/5th in five years?
Absolutely confusing as ****. Is MA taking the piss? He was 40k wages away from beung out the door, has literally played one game that hasn't involved a **** up, and hey presto new contract! To be fair if he learns to calm down the brain farts we gota decent keeper. I just remain unconvinced he can. This is absolutely not how I expected to spend this transfer window back when Stavers picked Bhuna and MA picked 6 vindaloos
I was about to type that he is still young and could still develop into a good keeper if he cuts out the errors, before I checked his age and saw that he's 27 already. As a back up keeper he might be alright and Elliott will be 32 in April. I dunno, he's not THAT bad, but we could do better so I'd not bother with the new contract.
Don’t understand it. By all accounts his deal to boro was done in the summer but then Rafa couldn’t get his targets. If he doesn’t rate him (and neither do I btw, he’s a calamity) then why offer him a new deal? Elliot strikes me as someone who doesn’t mind being back up, so let’s keep him flog Darlow and get someone decent in for #1.
