What was your earliest footballing memory ?

Would of been going to my first game when i was 8,was Manchester United, can’t remember who they were playing, but my family support united,so that is my earliest one.

When did you realize you wanted to be a goalkeeper ?

Since i started playing football,it is all i have done,my dad was a goalkeeper at Millwall and Palace for a while.

Any advice for young goalkeepers ?

Work hard, enjoy it,don’t get to high on the high’s,and don’t get to low on the low’s.

What is the best advice you have received ?

My step dad telling me not to get carried away, then when disappointment comes you will not be to down.

How often do you train ?

When i was full time,it was every day,now i am in the gym 4 days a week, now i am with Ramsgate, and it is part time (contract),i train 2 days a week.

What do you see as your strength’s and weaknesses ?

My strength’s are- my shot stopping, and command of the area,weaknesses- everyone has weaknesses, distribution is one of them, but i have been working on that, and that has come on a lot.

Best player you have played with ?

    Simone Jackson and Simon King.

What is the best stadium you have played in ?

    Frampton Park.

    What is your nickname ?

    Hawksy or Bigdaz.

Who is the biggest influence on your career ?

    My step dad.

How was your time at Maidstone United ?

I really enjoyed my time there,a very good, and professional run club, with the new staduim they will kick on.

I have a lot of time for the people there Jay Saunders (Manager).

What made yo decide to sign for Ramsgate ?

I knew Tim Dixon (manager) when i was there before,i knew a couple players from the Gillingham days,i like the way they are run, they have given me the chance to play 1st team football,They do a lot for me behind the scenes, which means a lot to me,so i felt i owed them at least a season to repay what they have done for me.

Was there any interest from any other clubs ?

There were 5 clubs 3 were league clubs,2 were non league, but they were mostly trial basis, and i am not in a position to take that chance.

What goalkeepers do you look up to ?

I have a few Guzman (Villa) Nuer (Munich) Best in the world in my opinion,Buffon and casillas.

If you wasn’t playing football, what job would you be doing ?

I would like to do something in football,Coaching, but probably be on site somewhere.

(Lewis Browning) Do you think you should of got a better crack at gills ?

I worked very hard there,I would of liked the chance, not the case anyone deserves it,but i would of liked to shown the fans what i could of done.

(Gary piper) Is the dream still to play league football some day ?

Yes,definately, that is the aim,to get back into it as soon as i can.

Is there a level you think you can reach ?

The games i watched at Priestfield, and travelling around when i was involved with the first team,I think i can handle league 2 level, obviously you don’t know for certain, until given the chance, but what i saw,i think i could handle league 2.

(Matty Millen) Who was your role model when you started out ?

My step dad,he done a lot for me,and obviously most kids look up to their dad anyway.

(GeminiswiftGFC) I coach a team of under 7′s,we will be starting our first season in September, would Daren have any advice that i could give to the boy’s or me as coach, and does he have 3 key thing’s to focus onto help develop young players ?

Focus on enjoyment,it is all about enjoying the game at that age,Technical and tactical areas,do not worry about physical thing’s,It is all about technique and fun.

A genuine young lad,who is level headed, and in my opinion will get his chance back in league football, will always have time for fans, and team mates a like,I am looking forward to going down and watching Ramsgate play this season.
