After all the good signings we made this is a huge blow!! We got to keep him he's key for our defence he's the only cover ATM for RB CB and LB!! And IMO thinks he should be first choice RB! Kevin isn't getting any younger and is becoming more injury prone and he isn't the player he use to be as much as I love him!!! And if it did come down to selling him I be wanting 1.5mil but sadly with only 1 year left on his contract we haven't got much control of the asking price How much would you feel he's worth?!
If we got £350k for Gerrard, he's got to be worth AT LEAST £500k given he's a full international and can cover a number of positions.
I wouldn't want him to go but understand his desire for first team football. However, it is a fact that barring injury, suspension or loss of form by any of those in situ, he wouldn't make the starting 11. He is a very good defender, rarely beaten in the tackle or for pace and wins his fair share in the air despite him not being as big as those around him. What lets him down is his distribution when in possession and occasionally his concentration particularly at full back. That said, he is terrific cover across the whole back four and has done well in the last 2 years whenever he has had the opportunity. This is a difficult one for Malky as he will need 2 players to replace him, we are already short of cover at the back and as Lateboy says Kev is injury prone and this also takes a toll on his form as we saw at the end of last season. I hope something can be worked out to keep him.
It seems that Darcy is back to his old tricks and Malky has had enough. Should get £700,000 at least IMO
BfB So I've been told, not seen any pre-season games as get but was told he's a bit portly around the waist too. I'm a fan of Darcy and would love to see him in our team but you've got to work hard for the chance.
Sad to see Darcy leave, but he wants to play and it looks as if he is going to be on the bench a lot again this season. He has looked pretty good in the pre season games i have seen, actually looked fit and in good shape this year
