We get a very quick chance to see if his form stacks up because Thorpe runs at Newmarket in 20 minutes.
He will stay, he will improve for his run. Actually I think the French horse is the best bet. New Approach might win, but he might not get the distance. The same with quite a few of Aiden's.
Poor event. The winner today was "nearly tailed off over 2f out" in the Guardian Classic Trial,a G3,before finishing a well beaten 9l fourth. Anyone who equates that to Classic winning form needs their neck bolt tightened. We could be in for the worst Derby since the fav's sire prevailed.
The Derby is poor every year, and i dont see how New Approach's Derby was any worse than alot of recent renewals. Still New Approach would have won alot easier had he not pulled like a atrain for the first 6 furlongs. Last years Derby for example was abismal, Pour Moi's Derby was poor, as was Workforce's. FFS Workforce couldnt even win the Dante, and only won the Derby because his conquerer in the Dante Cape Blanco didnt reopose
Quite so KS...NA was easily brushed aside by HTN twice and battered by the average Duke of M...he did however scrape home by 1/2 L from Traffic Guard..form not to be scoffed at...a true legend. No one could argue with that.
Henrythenavigator was also beaten by NA twice as a 2yo, and id hardly say NA was easily brushed aside in the 2000 guineas, if anything HTN was hanging on to only score by a nose, with subsequent QE2 and BC Classic winner Ravens Pass about 4 lenghs behind. New Approach had an injury after the Derby, hence why he was also beaten by that hound Pheonix tower, when he lost to DOM. He was not quite recovered in the Irish Champion stakes either though was still able to prevail. He hit top form though in the champion stakes, beating Traffic Guard 9 lenghs, and Twice over, who went on to win the next 2 renewals 6 lenghs, breaking the course record in the process. I know with 100% certainty that a fully fit New Approach would have pummelled that hound Duke Of Marmalade, and im sure most sain people would agree
HTN wins...the rest nowhere....Duke Of Marmalade wins...beats a poor field..all he could do was win...
So your going to hold 1 run against him, when he was coming back from an injury in the International, losing to Pheonix Tower aswell??? You really think Pheonix Tower or DOM would have lived with him in the Champion Stakes??? I have no issues with his defeats to HTN, as HTN was a world class miler, and on decent ground was a machine over a mile, though NA was still the better horse, as he was a middle distance horse, who's class got him as close as he did to HTN over a mile
