http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29042644 Striker Danny Welbeck says he had pictured himself playing in the Arsenal team while still at Manchester United and "couldn't be happier" after his move to the London club. But he told Arsenal's club website: "I've envisaged myself playing in this team before. For it to finally happen is very exciting." "I believe that with the manager's style of play and with the magnificent players in midfield slotting balls through, I can run on to the end of those balls and put them away," said Welbeck. "I'd like to bring pace and power to the game. At Arsenal, we're not short of combination football and I like to join in on that and get in behind defenders and try to get shots on goal. "I want to score some goals and help the team to achieve the right results." Smart boy, seeing sense and opting to jump the sinking ship of SS Manure and coming to the gunners
Basically in other words he is saying what everybody knows, how s**t United's midfield is. lol. He now has any of Ramsey-Ozil-Cazorla making plays for him, compared to United where he had to make due with Fletcher, Cleverly, Carrick, lol.
Sounds good. Exactly the right attitude. Be interesting to have a centreforward who can hold up the ball and run at defenders with pace. Been a while since we've had a player like that.
He's just saying what every other player says when he joins a new club. Why would a lad who was born & bred in Manchester and a lifelong Man Utd fan ever envisage playing for Arsenal ?
Why would a lot of attacking players want to play under Wenger? Also, I'm sure he grew up watching the likes of Henry during the Invincibles era and probably tried to emulate him in the playground.
For the chance of being a the main man at a club who will supply him a lot of chances due to they way they play. No player wants to sit on the bench for half their playing career.
Was just saying to the United fans he reminds me of Sturridge for us, showed occasional flashes of skill, but never started in matches, not played enough and put in a team who didn't play to his strengths. Maybe like Sturridge, a move to a club where he will be the started will see him blossom into a great player. Only time will tell....
To be honest, you don't have to be a lifelong Arsenal fan to want to play for an Arsenal Wenger team. Just the way we setup to play attacking football is envied by many around the world. Why do you think Sanchez came to Arsenal?
When do you honestly think that Welbeck decided that he'd rather be at Arsenal than Man Utd ? Alexis was surplus to requirements at Barcelona but I agree with that Wenger convinced him his future lay at Arsenal.
Serious answer I imagine it's a combination of factors. - Fergie leaving. - Moyes and his dross football. - Being supplied by Carrick, Fletcher and Cleverley. - Being constantly played on the wing. - Team massively underperforming and missing out on CL. - VG coming in and signing players who will start ahead of him. - Thinking Cleverley would still be at the club! - We asked.
I would agree with this which means Welbeck envisaging playing for Arsenal is a recent thing.I hope the lad does really well for us but i'm just saying that in his interview he's just trying to say the right things to Arsenal supporters.
They all do it, its nothing new. "This is a dream come true, im so excited, can't wait to start playing etc etc". What do you expect him to say "United are **** now and you guys offered me a pay rise and said I will play more *shrug*".
