Now now, as I stated, I don't think he's a world beater, but I don't think other English RBs are head and shoulders above him. I guess that's more down to the lack of any decent RBs at this moment in time. Johnson was woeful yesterday and I for one don't believe Walker is any better than Simpson.
As for Barton being overlooked again, don't get me started.

Maybe. Good attacking-wise but still unconvinced with him defending-wise.
Could just be another Glen Johnson.
He's good enough for us but I doubt he's ready for England, but I say give him a chance if he continues his consistent form until the end of the season. I like him but I just don't think he's international quality just yet.

This country's RBs are nothing on our LBs, but who is better than Simpson? Johnson is worse, only any good going forward. Richards is better but needs to leave City, the place is career suicide. Walker doesnt deserve it more than Simpson. I think Martin Kelly is in with a shout in a year or two when/if he breaks into the Liverpool side.
I also think a lot of people use Simpson's mistake against spurs against him too much now as well, he is doing well this year.

I think Smudger has hit the nail on the head. Whatever we may feel about Simpsons quality and ability at international level, you'd have to watch very little football to truly believe that Walker is as good as him.
I dont know what happened to Johnson at the World Cup, the first two matches was like 'Johnson Take on' with nobody else helping. From Slovenia onwards though he's fallen apart, caught out of position even more often, shocking mistakes and passes to opposition etc. He grew in to the Denmark game and I think he had a good 2nd half but you cant afford to be as bad as he was during the first 30mins at International level.
Point is, Simpson is no world beater, but if Johnson doesn't buck up soon I'd give him a go!
