    Hi guys,

What does everyone think about Danny Seabourne and how he playd on Sat? Do you all think he is good enough to play at the back every week with fonte??

Personally i am still in two minds, he made lots of good tackles on sat, put his body in the right place but his distribution is awful.... i worry against better opposition he might get exposed......

His distribution is not "awful". It's just the same old case of people exaggerating a negative based upon one or two bad balls (which all players do, even Lallana) and then ignoring his good passes.

For instance, the pass that Seabourne put over the top for Harding to run onto in the 2nd half was perfectly weighted. The sort of pass that lovers of Morgan would be creaming themselves over.

Danny also hits Lambert with his long balls more than I say any other of the defenders do. Yes, he can be a bit direct with his clearances, but I personally prefer seeing the ball going quickly into row z when under pressure than a defender trying to be clever and turn on the ball or underhit a backpass.

The lad is doing fine... and lets face it, Adkins thinks he's good enough, so he knows more than you or me.

I think his distribution is pretty good actually and he doesn't always lump it up the field to no avail like he used to either - he actually thinks about where the ball is going. He's helped the team to keep two clean sheets out of the three starts he's had, so we can't complain about that really. However, I do feel he was exposed against Ipswich at times. For me though, the outstanding defender so far this season has been Frazer Richardson, he's like a new signing.

not sure where this downer on Seaborne comes from. Its a squad game, and we need a large squad to compete. EVERY player in adkins plans, and Seaborne is definitely part of those plans will play their part. Injuries, suspensions dips in form will all happen and we need to have the players to slot in. You cant just play what you consider your "best 11" every game, and then only change when someone is injured. if you try that, when a new player comes in he will not be used to playing in the team - that is why NA played 2 different teams in many pre season games. it needs to be pretty near seamless when NA rotates players, and looking at our results its hard to argue against what NA is doing. Lets just sit back and enjoy the ride, safe in the confidence that NC and NA really do know what they are doing.

not too keen on his distribution, made a mistake on sat. that nearly led to a goal - against a better side that would have been exposed IMO

last 10mins or so particuarly he didn't win me over but saying that during the game he put a few good tackles in, but again his distrubtrion isn't always the best

First time in weeks I have seen anything to moan about - was when he tried to chest it down in the box vs Milwall and lost it, then Kelv had to make a save. Its on the highlights.
Also lost it for 10 mins vs JET against Ipswich, but recovered well.
Apart from those two fairly minor bits and bobs I cant see that he is significantly different to Fonte in all honesty!!!! So much more confidence in him compared to last year.

Totally correct about both Seaborne and Richardson but everyone sees things differently I guess. It just seems that if Seaborne is not liked nothing will change people's minds no matter how well he's started the season. But I haven't seen much wrong in the first four games so far.

Think that he is a good squad player but just feel we could do better when it comes to starting every match.

I think Seaborne's distribution is fine and I think he reads the game very well. However, I don't think he is good enough in the air and I feel that Fonte strives off playing next to someone who's dominant in the air (Martin or Jaidi). He's also not consistent enough for my liking and a bit shaky, but his left foot is useful. Personally, I prefer the Fonte and Martin partnership.

That pass from Seaborne to Harding towards the end of the game, was the pass of the match in my opinion.

It good to see a player we picked up unheralded from Exeter grow; shame there's a transfer window, as four more games would give us more a bearing whether an extra senior CB is necessary this season, as we are a club that likes to bring players through.

Seaborne is doing fine. No need to criticise him. Okay - he cannot hit killer passes with every possession - but for heavens sake he is a central defender who is still learning his trade.

I wasn't Seaborne's biggest fan last season but he's definitely improved and is willing to fight for his place in the starting line up which is what we need at the club.

As much as fans love having a whipping boy, I do think some fans are very quickk to defend him. Seaborne had a quality first half against Millwall but when the pressure increased in the second half, he definitely looked more panicky and did 'hoof' three or four times rather than look for the easy pass. However just as I was starting to soubt him again, he went and played a beautiful ball to Harding (I thought it was Fox but consensus seem to say Harding)

He definitely has quality, just needs to stay composed towards the end of games.

there is definetly something about him that does make me nervous when he is on the ball, does not seem quite in control of it, can't reallt comment on him this year as I have not attended a game as of yet :(

    I really rate him.

He cut out a lot of decent balls on the ground and in the air against milwall, and stayed strong against centre forwards who were trying their hardest to muscle him off of the ball. I think people should cut him a lot of slack, but then i've always rated Dan Harding and a lot of people slate him as well.

I think if you can spot improvement from last year then he is doing well, remember he did not play many games last year-the same with Martin. It is interesting that he divides the fans - passing great/crap, good in the air/crap in the air etc
