What's the word on him, do you think there's a deal to be done, or will yous want him back?

Cracking left back, he's behind Baines and slightly behind Ashley Cole (he will overtake him in the next season or 2). There's no-one else ahead of him in my eyes.

Villas-Boas has talked him up and suggested that he's coming back next season, but we've yet to see whether he plays games in the media with this sort of thing. I suspect that he doesn't.
Doesn't seem to rate Assou-Ekotto, who I'd expect to leave in the summer, so there's definitely a spot available in the team, but Rose would probably be happy to stay at the SOL.

Something that might get in the way of any deal or settling him back into our side is the U21 Euros in Israel this summer. The first game's on June 5th, though the final's only two weeks later.
He's been playing alongside fellow Spurs players Steven Caulker and Adam Smith in the back four and they've been doing well, so that might influence our thinking.

Can't see him going cheaply, if he does go, to be honest.

Don't suppose we can interest you in Kyle Naughton?

    Please?

    Oh go on...

We need a right back mate! He would probably be alright for us, I think he's looked really good at times.

The talk of Rosé Transfee is 8m, I would pay up to 12m, he's that good. I don't think we will get him, but he has been quoted as saying he wants to come. We will just wait and see.

Good luck for 4th, I hope you get it providing we stay up. Your a well ran club and although Levy is a prick when it comes to transfers, he's a brilliant business man.

As we have a manager who thinks it tactically astute to play a second rate RB at LB ahead of one of our consistent performers in that position, then I would think your chances of getting Rose on a permanent basis has to be pretty good.

  8. Moi???? Lol
It's a fair cop on that one, mate. Not all his fault as he has been largely played out of position as OS points out. But he is at best average.

Must say that I wasn't impressed by Rose at Spurs. Looked like a fairly ineffective LW whose attacking weaknesses were then dealt with by moving to LB where his defensive weaknesses became apparent.

I said recently that we should snap the hand off of whoever bids 8m but, as I knew at the time, that statement might make me look a bit stupid in a year or two's time. I know Sunderland fans have been going crazy over him - I just can't (yet) let that over-rule my personal experiences of watching him play for Spurs.

I hope it's not just a case of "right club at the right time" for the player and he comes back to Spurs and looks average again.

AVB clearly doesn't rate BAE so I think Rose may well be coming back and challenging for a place. Average right-backs get plenty of chances to impress there so why not him?

And have you noticed this affecting BAE's performances? Cos I've thought he's looked a bit dodgy in recent weeks. And I'm a fan of Benny's. You'd think his apparent "it's just a job" attitude might not be affected by having a so-so right-back play ahead of him but I wonder if it has dented his confidence.

I understand the lad above saying he was a deficient LM for you lads, but he has grown week on week, easy to forget his youth, and the fact that THAT goal v Arsenal probably, initially at least, inflated expectations.

He's grown into a superb LWB, a proper attacking over and underlapping wing back in the Baines mould, his physical strength has dramatically improved, and his spped and touch are excellent.

I hope we do keep him, jury is out on if he's top 4 calibre, but if I had the choice of Rose, Cole, Evra, Monreal/Gibbs or Kolarov, I'd honestly pick Rose (admittedly only age-wise over Cashley).

I do think BAE is excellent, but I know he's had a gruesome season.

I saw a picture that spoke a thousand words. They both looked at each other not as if they hated each others' guts, but that they, and especially Beni, were tired of arguing. I think AVB wants Beni to do certain things to fit into his system, and Beni feels this takes away from his best qualities.

I also cannot understand why you'd pick Naughton over Beni at left back. My guess is there are personal issues. Funny how players have divided themselves into Harry and AVB players. Both fullbacks are Harry players, it seems.

Who said they'd pay 12 for Rose????????? WOW....

In all seriousness though, I'd hate us not to have learnt our lessons from this season! DON'T LOAN OUT/ SELL THE COVER! I'd Keep him for a year and see if he's got what it takes to play for us rather than make a judgement now based on his first good season.

Glad he's playing well for you though! If you do end up buying him for 12m, most of us would be happy to chuck in ade, dempsey and naughton for another 5 total? Speak to your people. Let us know. Deadline is soon though, interest is rumoured to be high.

    Rose
    Naughton
    Adebayor
    Dempsey

    17m?

Where do I sign, you speak to Levy and I will speak to Short. They might not be good for you but they would massively improve our shower of ****e.

    DiCanio and Ade? <laugh>

  18. Geeez!! That's a marriage made in heaven if ever I saw one..... <smooch>

Actually want Ade to stay. I do have a feeling that he might have turned a corner, but even if he hasn't, his stock would be low at the moment so probably not worth off-loading.

Rose has done a job there but still not convinced that he would/should be anything more than cover for us.

They can certainly take Naughton and Dempsey off our hands for £12m, thank you very much!!

Think we'll probably have to keep him now, if Baines leaves it will surely be for United and I don't want us to sign one of these overrated Portugese left backs like Perreira and Coentrao as seems to be the fashion.

These rave reviews from the mackems are encouraging, thanks for the reports guys.
£12m sounds high from what I've seen of him. They are talking of £15m for baines. Rose is younger but baines is only 28.

I agree with the poster about THE goal raising expectations. He never really looked a left winger to me ("the left sided Lennon" is what I first heard of him as) but he looked solid if unspectacular as a LB, and that was when he was fairly inexperienced in the position. I can see how he could have come on leaps and bounds with regular games in that position.
If we don't need the money and he doesnt want out then I would say keep and give game time, it could be one that bites us in the future if we sell.
