Sunderland loan star Danny Rose pleased to stay on Wearside HAPPY TO STAy DANNY Rose is relieved his future has been resolved until the end of the campaign. Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas confirmed last weekend that Rose would be allowed to complete his season-long loan at Sunderland, even if there was little chance of the left-back remaining at the Stadium of Light beyond the summer. Sunderland had feared Spurs could activate the January recall clause in Roseâs loan deal after the England Under-21 international has made such a positive impression since arriving on Wearside on August transfer deadline day. But Rose, who has previously revealed his eagerness to join Sunderland on a permanent deal, is glad Villas-Boas has provided some clarity after revelling in the opportunity for regular first-team football with the Black Cats. Rose said: âI spoke to the manager (Villas-Boas) on Saturday and asked him what was happening because I wanted to know myself. âIâm very happy up north. Iâm close to my family, and playing every week. âI love the staff, players and management here, and Iâm not looking to go back south and not play. âIâm settled here, so I wanted to know what was going on. âHe told me the plan was to stay for the full season, and whatever happens after that is out of my hands. Then itâs between Sunderland and Spurs.â Rose will return to the starting line-up at Liverpool tomorrow night after he was ineligible to face his parent club in Saturdayâs 2-1 defeat. The 22-year-old was a significant miss, with centre-half Matt Kilgallon shoehorned into the left-back slot before being withdrawn just after the hour mark. But Rose hopes the break will prove beneficial after he has been battling an ankle injury for the past fortnight. âThe rest will do me good to a certain extent,â said Rose. âYou donât want to take too many days off because you lose your fitness. âBut itâs been good to get my feet up for a few days because Iâve got a sore ankle at the minute. âI obviously couldnât play with the rules and regulations, and itâs very frustrating not being able to play in a game you want to play in. âIt was a shame we conceded two sloppy goals after going into the break 1-0 up. âBut the lads have just got to forget about it. The games come thick and fast now, and weâve just got to move on. âIt was difficult for Killa, it is for any centre-half moving to a full-back position. He tried against Aaron Lennon, who is one of the best wingers in the league. âBut hopefully I can get back in the team tomorrow, and continue the good things Iâve been doing.â
Sounds good. To be honest you can't tell me that Rose and MON have not already discussed his future after the loan, they will be keeping that to themselves and I am sure SAFC will be playing down our interest so they don't get bent over by Levy in the summer.
He's on a par with Mig for player of the season imo so lets make a sensible offer for him. Lets not f*ck about. Lets get him.
levy is a very hard man to deal with and he will want the best deal he can get for spurs but maybe mr short is a good dealer too, i hope so.
If AVB can't offer him first team football he will leave spurs. He likes it here so let's hope Rose is our first summer signing. Even if we have to pay close to 10m for him he is the best LB ive seen play fOr Sunderland.
Couple of mates are spurs fans and laughed when I suggested we would buy him off spurs. They said spurs are just letting the lad gain some experience before returning to spurs, just as Man Utd did with Welbeck - they never had any intention of selling him to us. We'll need to look elsewhere next season.
I asked the Spurs lads on here, and the majority seemed to reckon there's a good chance he'll be sold. Wait & see I guess.
Like I have said before when has a club ever managed to get a player to stay when they have wanted to go. Look at us with Gyan, or even Modric, they kept him for a year but he went in the end. It wont be Spurs decision it will be Dannys, It just depends how much Spurs want for him.
“He told me the plan was to stay for the full season, and whatever happens after that is out of my hands. Then it’s between Sunderland and Spurs.” That doesn't say to me that AVB wants to keep him. It says its up to Levy!!!! Has he just dropped villas boas in it??
