What were you thinking ? Not going to criticise , just want to know why you headed a ball that was going out for s goal kick straight into an opposition player running onto the ball , what were you trying to achieve and would that outcome of been better than letting the ball run out of play ? Other than that good performance , still not convinced by Hooiveld or Fonte but they played well yesterday , that was a fighting performance and 37 more like that and we shall be more than fine .
A bad header. But it did look as if he lost his balance and slipped. Was a shame though, but we win as a team, draw as a team, and lose as a team.
be fair to the lad, he was off balance, at the ground it looked hideous, looked like he completely teed it up for Nasri, however looking on tv, he lost balance and it kindve hit him on the head, he was caught in 2 minds, was a great ball in, if he left it he had 2 city players behind him lurking. Dont forget these things happen in a split second, and when you been concentrating like that for 80 mins against a team of Citys calibre. He will learn from it.
Defending for long periods is mentally exhausting and he did slip...he will run that through his mind for days, but learn from it and move on. An important slip but he has to also remember what he did right.
Let's not start singling out players. With the amount of pressure City put us under is was only a matter of time before someone made an error. Like a penalty shoot-out in that respect. But let's not blame individuals. You win as a team, and lose as a team.
Agreed, don't blame Fox for the header at all. But disagree that he was one of our better players. I would love to be a winger with Fox marking me. If we are going to continue with Fox, he needs more support from the midfield in the way that Chris Marsden did for Wayne Bridge.
Anyone notice how hard he tried in the last ten minutes after that? He really drove forwardwith the ball and Seemedto be trying so hard to make up for the mistake.
So you single out Fox yet don't ask Clyne what he was doing playing Tevez onside for the first goal and why he came off his post for the 2nd? Interesting double standards
If you work as hard as our team did yesterday there are bound to be some mistakes...in some games you won't be punished.
Or Hooiveld giving away a clumsy penalty. If Fonte had done that he would have got slated on this board, bless him. He was great yesterday, and he is so attack-minded at times. Gets forward so well.
Good point except Tevez was actually offside albeit marginally. As for leaving the post, thats a tough, hindsight and a couple of ricochets, call. Agreed that Fox did well coming forward, just his ability to mark I worry about.
Some fans are never happy, I had a go at Puncheon but today I take it back. We gave the champions a real fright, yes that's the Prem champions who have spent about 400mil. Give our players a break ffs.
If the people actually read my post then they would see I would only want to know what he was thinking ? Nothing more , and as for two players behind him , well yes but the ball was going away from goal and there was some distance for them to actually get there , I still think they would of over powered us but there is no disgrace in that .
He didn't have the best of games, but he can't be blamed for yesterday's result. Onwards and upwards.
I'm pretty certain every player on the pitch yesterday made several mistakes. I'm also pretty certain that other Saints players made mistakes in the build up to that goal. To score a goal you have to get past the entire opposition team.
