He's a local lad that used to stand in the Rainham End, so he will celebrate. I'm not even going to chance fate by commenting on the latter.

on recent games though brb would you still call him a midfielder? Or actually the striker on form we signed 2 years ago? :p

Better suited to midfield in my honest opinion. By saying that I want to make it clear that I am not speaking detriment of the lad. In much the same way as I was very critical of Joe Martin before MA came along and demonstrated he is better as an attacking left back.

We seem to stick players in to certain moulds, without exploring their potential in other roles. I would say by me actually classing Keds a midfielder that reaps praise more than scorn because it means he is adaptable to various roles as and when required. Much the same as Jackman but that's another story.

Kedwell plays a deep lying centre forward role. He did the same at AFCW where I watched him many times. His flick ons and lay offs have been quite sublime in the last few weeks and I do not think it is any coincidence that making Kedwell an automatic choice has coincided with Gills much improved form.

As to whether he is a midfielder or a striker, the answer has to be both. A high proportion of the balls entering the opposition penalty area are flick ons from Kedwell, this is why he will never be a prolific goalscorer.

That poses the question of whether we should be playing two strikers in front of him, and who do we leave out of mid field to accommodate him? His form has drastically improved over the last few weeks, and if indeed it is because he has had a run in the side, then he should be left in.

Bristol407 fully smashed the head of the nail in there.

Last season for united Rooney started playing in that centre forward role and suddenly started not only providing goals but scoring more than he had been for a period.

There is something about Kedwell that I like, he will never stop working for this club.

Part of me would see him playing next season in a lineup like the below -

    Nelson

    Fish Barrett Legge Martin

    Whelpdale Lee Gregory Weston

    Kedwell

    Cody

Obviously that assumes we get cody and we also don't sign anyone else but the formation would work, and it has a bit more brains to it than the hard 442 which works in League 2, would give us some more fluidity up front.

Whatever happens Kedwell is a bloody GFC legend for putting us into League 1, anyone who knocks him when we are sat top of the league needs their head looking at.

Danny has started and finished the season in excellent form there is no doubt that, but I am sorry he is still not worthy of Super Bobs Song and It still sticks in my throat when it is sung for him!!

Cat amongst the pigeons! I'd rather have kedwell over pope currently!

    *Get up off the floor*

Yes pope has scored more goals to but when he gets poached next season for a higher league watch them fall from grace! Kedwell on the other hand will still be a gills player and yes he may never reach 30 goals n a season and 20 might be a push, however he will consistently score double figures and bring others into sore goals around him.

Pope could well be a one season wonder. He's never done it before.

I think if he does stay with Vale then he will struggle next season if they follow us up to League One.

Was nice to see Keds show the Wombles fans the respect by not celebrating, but also for the Wombles fans to stay behind and watch us lift the title. To both clap off Kedwell and Gregory their former players showed good humility from an honest bunch of fans. I hope for football's sake they stay up.

Just wish he would treat me the same way as he treats all his other followers and supporters. I admit that I have sent him a lot of messages to which I never meant to do. All my messages have always been supportive and have never been nasty or abusive, so can't understand why he completely blanked me at the training ground last Friday. Don't know what happened to the Danny Kedwell who came up and spoke to me at the training ground back in September and again after the Wimbledon game in October. All I want is for him to accept my apology and treat me as he does everyone else by being the nice friendly guy that he is and who speaks to all fans.

Berni you know I see your tweets on twitter and I never pass a view when you appear upset. BUT if you want me to be perfectly honest and I do NOT mean this in a nasty way, you need to try to chill out. You say you want him to treat you the same as other supporters, I along with many other supporters have never had a tweet or retweet from him, let alone a conversation, think about how many have you had (that is not a question). That is where I rest my point. Even if I was discussing a player or even talking to a player, I would never even in a completely harmless way mention his wife and kids, even by name. This is purely football, there life outside of football remains 100% private. You admit he spoke to you at the training ground, that quite simply is where it ends, they are paid to do a job not build a relationship of kindness. I accept there are a very, very small minority of supporters who speak to players on a regular basis, they are a lucky few, you cannot and should not hold that up as a comparison because something does not work for you. My words are meant as kindness to take the pain away, you can only choose to make of them what you will. Friendships are built between two people out of willingness and acceptance of boundaries. Not because someone insists they must. I am exactly the same, otherwise it just turns a tide of uncertainty. Anything outside of those acceptance of boundaries is not being unkind it is just someone may have crossed the line in the sand. Freely go and watch Keds play, go and see Keds at the training ground but accept if he chooses any other acknowledgement it has to be freely not based on apologises. I do not expect you to understand and I will not respond any further. Please just enjoy the moments and I know it might be difficult to accept but please take the positives not the negatives. The social media opens up boundaries like never before but it should never be allowed to become intrusive. Please don't PM or tweet me in response, merely just try to heed my words of wisdom.
